Traveling to Bahrain – COVID-19 Updates

The Kingdom of Bahrain is an island nation in the Persian Gulf. Around 83% of the country’s landmass is made up of Bahrain Island and the rest consists of 70 natural and 33 artificial islands.

Bahrain is the third-smallest nation in Asia at 760 square kilometres in size, with a population of about 1.5 million people. It is particularly famous for its pearl fisheries, which have been well known since antiquity and were considered to be the best in the world well into the nineteenth century. With its numerous beaches, luxury resorts, hot weather and rich history, this archipelago certainly makes for an all-round attractive holiday destination.

Please be advised that the U.S. State Department’s travel advisory for Bahrain is currently at Level 4 (do not travel) due to a very high level of COVID-19 in the country. However, Bahrain’s U.S. Embassy has confirmed that travellers from the U.S. are permitted to enter the country and receive a visa upon arrival. All arrivals (including those who have been vaccinated) will be tested at the airport and will be required to self-isolate until they receive their test result.

You will also need to install the BeAware Bahrain app in advance and pay for a second test on day 5 and a third test on day 10 of your stay. The total cost of the three tests is $95.
