Bangalore, or to use its real name, Bengaluru, is the capital city of Karnataka in Southern India. One of the largest cities in the world, it boasts numerous activities for the budding tourists and the well-experienced traveler. For traveling people looking for an ideal vacation destination, variety of culture and history awaits you.

The Tourist Highlights

You don’t have to go to England to experience Tudor architecture. Bangalore Palace, established in 1878 by Maharaja Chamarajendra Wadiyar is one of the most pristine landmarks you can hope to experience. As well as it being a perfect embodiment of Victorian architecture, the palace also has paintings from the 19th and 20th century. If you’re looking for something a bit more Indian, the Bull Temple, unsurprisingly dedicated to a bull, Nandi, provides many religious iconographies. If you’re looking for something a bit more natural, the Lalbagh Botanical Garden is a direct connection to nature right in the middle of the city. You can experience a wide variety of plants from across the entire world in this one simple place.

Traveling Around Bangalore

There are so many travel options for every type of tourist, from solo to family. The most common way is an auto rickshaw. Be ready to haggle for the right fare! And if you want to experience the city with the locals, the buses with black display boards zigzag around the entire city. Buses with the red boards go over longer distances and take you to various suburbs. If you’re looking for something a little less crowded, there are plenty of car rental opportunities, and some even provide drivers for you!

Get Eating!

Bangalore literally translates to “town of beans”, so naturally, you would be inclined to believe that native Bangaloreans love food in their abundance! There are so many local delicacies, the Idli Dip Sambhar and the Bisi Bele Bhath are two of the spiciest dishes you can hope to try. Or if you’re looking for something a little bit more your style, there are breakfast foods in abundance Regardless of the time of day you want to eat it. And if you just want a steak, you’ve got it! There are some excellent steakhouses in the center of Bangalore.

What Else Do I Need To Know?

During the day, you can expect the climate to be pretty pleasant, between 79 to 84 degrees Fahrenheit. But if you go between September and October, expect a monsoon or two! Every other time of year, it’s pleasantly sunny. If you aren’t so keen on nightlife, avoid stylish neighborhoods like Koramangala and Indiranagar, but if this is your thing, you can party all night. In comparison to many other Indian cities, Bangalore is pretty liberal. You should be careful of pickpockets, especially in tourist areas, and you could be asked to pose for selfies. If you don’t feel comfortable, politely decline. Bangalore is a very friendly city to visit overall. And if you have never been to India before, don’t feel tempted to drink the tap water. Purchase bottled water to keep yourself hydrated and healthy.
