Although it’s in the middle of an Arabian desert, Dubai is arguably one of the world’s most ambitious and fastest-growing cities. It has some of the world’s tallest buildings, largest malls and most luxurious services that you’ll ever come across. While it can seem like a wealthy paradise, there’s also a lot of culture and tradition surrounding the city that can offer you a uniquely contrasting experience.

Reasons to Visit Dubai

To start off, let’s talk about a couple of reasons why you should visit Dubai and book your next holiday as soon as possible!

  1. Dubai has some jaw-dropping megamalls. If you love to shop then these luxurious complexes will tick every box and have you exploring for hours on end.
  2. Thanks to its international recognition, Dubai has a fantastic foodie scene that mixes cuisines from all over the world. Whether you’re looking for affordable local snacks or high-end international restaurants, there’s something for everyone’s taste and budget.
  3. Modern art galleries and museums have sprung up all over Dubai in the past couple of years, making it a fantastic place to learn more about the cultural and artistic history of the city.
  4. Big beautiful beaches line the coast of Dubai, so if you love soaking up the sun and going for a swim, this is the perfect city.

Attractions in Dubai

Dubai has some of the world’s largest malls such as the Dubai Mall. These huge shopping complexes mix leisurely activities with department stores, restaurants, cinemas and even sporting activities like ice ranks. A must-visit place in Dubai is The Dubai Fountain, a huge choreographed fountain complex that has dazzling displays mixed with music and lights. You’ll also be surprised to find that there are indoor skiing opportunities in Dubai, so you have high-adrenaline experiences as well! In terms of galleries and museums, we would recommend taking a look at the mind-bending experience of the Museum of Illusions.

Food in Dubai

There’s a great mix of cheap eats and high-end cuisine here in Dubai. For a meaty snack, try manousheh which is like a local pizza. We can also recommend al machboos, a delicious mix of Bahraini chicken and rice. If you’re a vegetarian, then you’ll fall in love with the fresh tabbouleh salads and falafel. As Dubai is a Muslim region, you won’t find any pork dishes. However, you will find plenty of camel-based dishes which can be considered quite a unique meat for non-natives.

Staying in Dubai

Dubai has some of the world’s most luxurious hotels, so if you’re willing to pay then you’ll get an unforgettable experience. However, there are also many affordable local Airbnbs and lower-budget hotels to stay at.

Dubai Travel Tips

Dubai can be quite intimidating for new visitors, so here are a couple of essential tips.

  • To get around easily, don’t be afraid to take a taxi or an Uber. There are plenty of drivers available and the city can be quite intimidating to navigate.
  • Go beyond just luxurious buildings and skyscrapers! There’s plenty of cultural sights and sounds to experience if you venture out a little.
  • Careful of the rules. Kissing is not allowed in public even if you’re in a taxi or hotel, and you’ll need to cover up your body if you enter any religious places.
