Traveling to Abu Dhabu

It’s not difficult to see why so many people are traveling to Abu Dhabi these days. This city, along with nearby Dubai, has become famous for its hyper-modern look and feel, and all the fun that it provides. From world-class attractions and shopping to excellent weather, it’s a destination that delights adventurers, and indeed, is rightly regarded as one of the most exciting destinations to visit. Below, we take a look at some of the essential tips and pieces of information you need to know to guarantee an outstanding Abu Dhabi vacation. 

Things to Know

There’s no place quite like Abu Dhabi; indeed, there’s nowhere quite like the United Arab Emirates, of which Abu Dhabi is capital. It’s a new city; indeed, take a look at aerial photos from just a few decades ago, and you would see nothing that resembles the current plan and view. It has been built up from nothing, which ensures that virtually every aspect is sparkling new. Aside from all the fun that the city provides (more on that later), a big draw is the weather. The city receives excellent weather virtually year-round, which means it’s a great destination for sun hunters no matter what time of the year it is (though be aware that it can be especially hot and humid during the summer).

What Abu Dhabi lacks in history, it more than makes up for with modern attractions and buildings. Perhaps the most visited attraction is the Sheikh Zayed Mosque, which is the 6th largest mosque in the world and the largest in the United Arab Emirates. A tour of the building, which happens multiple times a day, is recommended. For a more relaxed atmosphere, head over to the Corniche, which is arguably the crown jewel of the city. It’s a picturesque waterfront area that stretches for some six kilometers, which has beaches, great views, play areas, and more. It’s a fantastic place to spend a sunny afternoon (i.e., any afternoon in Abu Dhabi). 

There’s also Khalifa Park and the Flagpole (one of the world’s tallest). Also, it’s important to remember that Abu Dhabi always has many new projects in progress, so it’s worth checking to see if anything has recently been completed before you travel. 

Shopping and Food Options

If you like shopping, then you’re going to love all that goes along with an Abu Dhabi travel adventure. It’s one of the shopping capitals of the world. You can check out the many stores that dot the downtown area, but for the best, check out the malls. They’re huge, and of the highest-quality — Abu Dhabi Mall, Marina Mall, and Al Wahda are three of the best, and most jaw-dropping. On the food front, you’ll find plenty of restaurants offering high-quality meals, though be aware that most of the finest dining establishments are found within hotels. If you’re looking for an evening drink, you’ll have to look in the hotels too, since these are the only spaces where alcohol is served.
