Ukraine COVID-19 Travel Updates

Until June 30th, 2021, Ukraine is under adoptive quarantine, and face masks are mandatory in indoor public spaces and public transport. Foreign travel is allowed in and out of the country, which applies to all US citizens. When in Ukraine, you must conform to all COVID-19 restrictions in place at the time of travel.

Bear in mind that the US State Department has a Ukraine at Level Four Do Not Travel, and the CDC is advising Level Four Very High Level of COVID-19, so traveling to Ukraine after COVID-19 still poses a risk of infection to those entering the country. Any traveler to the US from Ukraine, aged two and older, must produce a negative viral COVID-19 test result taken within 72 hours of departure; documented confirmation of recovery from the virus within the prior 90 days will also be recognized. Failure to present the required information will result in not being able to board the flight.

The US is currently classified as a “red zone.” This means that anyone wishing to travel from the US to Ukraine aged 12 and older must present a negative COVID PCR test taken within 72 hours of arrival. This also applies to all arrivals from other “red zone” countries. So while travel may be permitted, it is with caution and the requirements of valid documentation proving that each individual is free from COVID upon travel between the US and Ukraine.

PCR tests that are taken when in Ukraine will be at the cost of the individual, with results available within 72 hours. Anyone found to be in non-compliance with any quarantine restrictions, including the mandatory mask mandate, will be at risk of a fine. ID must be carried at all times.
