The Short Answer
The clearest difference is in how our clients pay. Of the 18 La Première tickets our desk issued between November 2024 and September 2026, 17 were cash. Of the 48 Lufthansa First tickets, 43 were awards, 41 of them on Miles & More. La Première is a fare you buy; Lufthansa First is a seat you book with miles.
The products are both in transition. Air France's new four-suite La Première on the 777-300ER already flies from Atlanta, Boston and Houston, and the whole La Première network moves onto it by the end of 2026, per the desk library. Lufthansa's new Allegris First flies only on Munich A350-900s, from San Francisco, Chicago, New York JFK and San Diego in the US; its other first class is the earlier generation.
By city, the two overlap on Boston, New York JFK, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Miami. Only La Première flies from Atlanta and Houston, and only Lufthansa First from Chicago and San Diego, in our data.

Which One to Book
Paying cash? La Première is the natural buy, and our fare scans give you the ceiling: $25,373, $25,626 and $21,265 round trip from Los Angeles, New York JFK and San Francisco. One fare-rule warning from the desk: a "privatization" fare in the P booking class buys all four suites for a party of four, so never quote it as a single seat.
Holding Miles & More miles? Lufthansa First is where they shine, because since about June 2026 no other program sees the space. Our Lufthansa First guide explains the pricing and the fees. If you hold bank points instead, neither cabin is easy: no US bank transfers to Miles & More, and Flying Blue rarely yields La Première in our ledger.
Choosing by city? From Boston, New York JFK, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Miami, both are options; compare the aircraft on your date, since the new suites are not on every flight. From Atlanta and Houston, it is La Première; from Chicago and San Diego, Lufthansa.
The Disruption Watch
Both hubs sit in strike-prone countries. The desk library records Lufthansa strikes in February and April 2026 that cancelled more than 800 flights, and treats France as the strike capital for air traffic control. And both airlines connect you into the Schengen area, where the EU Entry/Exit System produced multi-hour peak queues in summer 2026 at Munich and Frankfurt: when the first Schengen stop is a connection, build in 60 to 90 minutes more.

Both are flagship cabins across the Atlantic, each with a new suite rolling out. The difference that matters most is how you pay: in our ledger La Première is almost always bought with cash (17 of 18 tickets) and Lufthansa First almost always with miles (43 of 48).
Which US cities have both?
In our data, Boston, New York JFK, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Miami. La Première also flies from Atlanta and Houston, and Lufthansa First from Chicago and San Diego.
Can I book La Première with miles?
Rarely: only 1 of the 18 La Première tickets our desk issued used Flying Blue miles. Plan on a fare, and compare Air France and Delta flight numbers.
Can I book Lufthansa First with United miles?
Not since about June 2026: Lufthansa releases no first class award space to partner programs, per our desk library, so Miles & More is effectively the only way to book it with miles.
