One property, one peninsula, and the best-connected luxury base in the Aegean — how to do Greece the Aman way.
By Biirdee Travel. Updated 2026-06-10.
Aman's Greek presence is a single property — but Amanzoe, Ed Tuttle's hilltop acropolis above Porto Heli, is positioned to anchor an entire Greek itinerary. The eastern Peloponnese puts Athens 2.5 hours away by road (25 minutes by helicopter), the islands of Hydra and Spetses minutes away by boat, and the great classical sites — Epidaurus, Mycenae, Nafplio — within easy day-trip range. The result is the rare Greece trip that gets antiquity, Aegean swimming, and island time without a single ferry queue or hotel change.
This guide covers the route Biirdee builds most often around Amanzoe. For the resort itself — pavilions, the Beach Club, rates — see the full Amanzoe guide.
Nights 1–2, Athens: the Acropolis at opening time with a private archaeologist guide, dinner up in Plaka or at the new-wave tavernas of Pangrati. Nights 3–8, Amanzoe: helicopter transfer south (the 25-minute flight over the Saronic Gulf is the best money in Greek travel), then six nights split between the hilltop and the Beach Club, with three signature days out — Hydra by private boat (no cars, all donkeys and harbor cafés), Epidaurus' ancient theatre at golden hour, and Spetses for lunch and a swim off the boat.
Sailing extends naturally: Amanzoe sits at the edge of the Saronic and Argolic gulfs, and a two- or three-night crewed charter out of Porto Heli — picking up after the resort stay — turns the trip into a land-and-sea itinerary without any repositioning. Biirdee arranges the boats alongside the rooms.
Amanzoe runs roughly April through October. May–June and September–early October are the windows we book hardest: warm seas, 30%+ off August rates, and the Peloponnese still green. July–August delivers guaranteed heat at peak pricing and peak Greek-summer energy at the Beach Club — some guests want exactly that.
Budget: with pavilions from roughly $1,500–2,000 in shoulder season and Athens five-stars from ~$500, the 8-night shape typically lands around $15,000–25,000 for two before flights, plus the helicopter (~$2,000 each way for the aircraft) and boats. Partner-channel perks at Amanzoe — breakfast, credit, upgrade priority — apply as usual; see how to book Aman hotels.
No — Amanzoe on the Peloponnese mainland is Aman's only Greek property, but Hydra and Spetses are short boat rides away, which is precisely the design: island days, mainland calm. See the complete Aman list.
For most guests, yes — it converts a 2.5-hour drive into a 25-minute flight to the resort's own helipad and effectively adds half a day at each end of the stay. The drive itself is pleasant if you want to stop at Corinth or Epidaurus en route.
Late May–June and September for the weather-to-rate sweet spot. August is the social peak at premium prices; April and October bring soft rates and quiet with swimmable-but-brisk seas.
The natural pairing is Aman Venice — a short flight from Athens — for a Mediterranean two-country run, or Amanjena in Marrakech for a contrast finish.
Athens nights, the helicopter south, pool pavilion with partner perks, boats to Hydra and Spetses — Biirdee builds the whole Aegean run as one itinerary.
