Every lodge has a single suite category, so there is no room-type ladder to climb — season and journey length are the only levers on the rate. The Bhutan Sustainable Development Fee

Every visitor to Bhutan pays the Sustainable Development Fee — a government levy charged per person per day that funds the kingdom's healthcare, education and conservation. It is not part of the Aman rate and Aman cannot waive it: it is billed on top, per person, for every day in the country. The rate has changed several times in recent years, with different figures for adults, children and certain nationalities along the way; it has run around $100 per person per day in recent seasons, which is the figure we budget with until a booking confirms otherwise. Verify current policy when you book — at that level the levy adds roughly $1,400–1,600 for two across a seven-night journey.

Amankora typically handles the levy alongside the visa and permits as part of the journey paperwork, so it appears on the same invoice rather than at a border desk. Aman's own stay-pay offers apply to the journey rate rather than the levy — though Bhutan's tourism department has periodically run its own SDF incentives on longer stays, so ask what is current for your dates.

How Many Nights to Book — and What Each Length Costs
