How to Choose
The Gresham is the complete answer, and the Chain Bridge/castle-view categories are among Europe's great hotel windows; budget the supplement. The New York Palace trades the river for interior theatre at €200 less, with Leaders Club benefits attached. The Elisabeth Bridge cluster (Matild Palace, the new St. Regis and Párisi Udvar, all a few minutes apart) is the smart base for first-timers, with Váci utca, the Central Market Hall and the river on foot. Andrássy út and the W suit scene-seekers and opera nights; Hotel Clark and the Kimpton BEM put you on the Buda side for castle mornings.
