The Waldorf Astoria New York reopened on July 15, 2025 after the most expensive hotel restoration ever undertaken, roughly $2 billion over eight years. The math explains the luxury: 1,400 old rooms became 375 enormous new ones (plus private residences above), while the Art Deco landmark interiors (Peacock Alley, the Park Avenue lobby clock, the Grand Ballroom) were restored to their 1931 drawings. It instantly rejoined the city's top tier and anchors the brand's portfolio.
Uniquely among hotels at this level, you can pay two ways: cash from $1,366–1,788 a night on our test stays (our numbers are below), or ~150,000 Hilton Honors points, and with Hilton's fifth-award-night-free, a five-night points stay effectively prices each night at 120k. Both routes are playable; they reward different travelers.

On 3 October 2026 we priced the Waldorf Astoria New York through our own booking engine (the one behind hotels.biirdee.com) for two adults on four test stays and on a two-night midweek stay (Tuesday to Thursday of the third week) in every month to October 2027, and we scored its most recent verified guest reviews ourselves. The hotel reopened in July 2025 and has only 76 recent reviews on our platform, so read the score with that in mind. Rates are the lowest per night the engine charged at booking. Our Read on the Numbers
On recent reviews the Waldorf leads New York: 9.41 out of 10, with 89% of guests at 9 or more and 5.3% under 7, ahead of The Carlyle (9.32) and the two Four Seasons (9.19 on older reviews, and 9.07), and well ahead of The Peninsula (8.87), the Mandarin Oriental (8.78) and both Ritz-Carltons (8.40 and 8.06). Two caveats: the score rests on only 76 recent reviews, and the written reviews say less than usual. Service comes up in 38% of them and averages 8.54, below the hotel's overall score. Across the brand it ranks ninth of the 31 Waldorf Astorias we could score.
On price it depends on the month. On our November stay it was $1,398 a night, second-cheapest of the eight after the Mandarin Oriental ($1,378) and well below The Carlyle ($2,104) and The Peninsula ($2,331). Over New Year ($1,788) and in March ($1,366) it was among the dearest: only the Four Seasons Hotel New York (suites only) and, over New Year, The Ritz-Carlton Central Park cost more. Our engine left no tax to pay at checkout on any of its rates. The calendar runs from $991 a night in February to $2,363 in December, and nothing was on sale from July to October 2027 when we checked.
Watch the breakfast line. The cheapest rates were room only, and the breakfast rates on the same rooms were priced far above anything breakfast could explain ($2,189 against $1,398 in November), so treat them as packages. Either add breakfast at the hotel or book through Hilton for Luxury, Hilton's invitation-only advisor program, which adds complimentary breakfast for two along with VIP guest status, a property credit, upgrade priority when available, early check-in and late check-out priority, and double Hilton Honors points.

February: our monthly checks found $991 a night for a two-night midweek stay in February 2027, against $1,432–1,551 in most other months and $2,363 in December. From July to October 2027 nothing was on sale when we checked.
