Our take on Four Seasons Hotel Firenze
A 15th-century palazzo and a former convent in a 4.5-hectare private garden, a Four Seasons since 2008: 121 rooms and suites, Il Palagio's Michelin star, a spa with a hammam, an outdoor pool on the upper terrace of the garden, a children's playground, babysitting and meeting rooms. Three MICHELIN Keys, Forbes Five-Star and No. 12 in The 50 Best Hotels 2026, it is our first pick in the city, for a couple and for a family. $2,389 a night on our New Year check; the pool is closed from October to the end of May, and Palazzo del Nero, one of its two buildings of rooms and home to Onde and Bar Berni, is closed for works until 31 March 2027.

Portrait Firenze
Lungarno, Florence, Italy
The Ferragamo family's Lungarno Collection hotel on the Arno, in plain view of the Ponte Vecchio: 36 rooms and suites by Michele Bönan, inspired by 1950s couture, the Caffè dell'Oro bistro on the river, the White Iris Beauty Spa at its sister Hotel Continentale a few steps away, and a dedicated Lifestyle Assistant. The best river views in the city and our pick for a couple; LHW member.

The St. Regis Florence
Santa Maria Novella, Florence, Italy
A palazzo on the Arno from Brunelleschi's circle, on Piazza Ognissanti: 99 rooms and suites with Florentine furniture, the finer ones under ceilings in the Medici manner and some with river views, the Winter Garden restaurant, a spa and the bar's evening ritual. One MICHELIN Key. Under ten minutes on foot from Santa Maria Novella station, with a business center: our pick for a working stay, and a grand one for two.

Palazzo Portinari Salviati
Duomo quarter, Florence, Italy
The 15th-century palazzo of Dante's Beatrice's family, and the first home of Cosimo I de' Medici, opened as a hotel in 2022 a few minutes on foot from the Duomo: 13 rooms and suites around frescoed courtyards, the Vita Nova spa with a heated pool in the old bank vaults, and ATTO di Vito Mollica's Michelin star. Two MICHELIN Keys; pure Renaissance theater for two. LHW member.

The 1885 grande dame by Palazzo Strozzi, a few minutes from the Duomo and steps from Via de' Tornabuoni: breakfast with Iginio Massari's pastries, Cibrèo Ristorante & Cocktail Bar downstairs, and a spa in a Roman-bath footprint. The Place Firenze
Piazza Santa Maria Novella, Florence, Italy
The house-party hotel: 20 rooms on the piazza and no traditional reception desk, breakfast under a glass-domed courtyard, a terrace over the rooftops, and a restaurant open daily until 10:30 p.m. for lunch, tea or an aperitivo (ask for the negroni masterclass). One MICHELIN Key, LHW member, and the insider's pick for a solo stay.

Palazzo Firenze by Baglioni
Via Ghibellina, Florence, Italy
Long known as Relais Santa Croce: 24 rooms and suites with frescoed ceilings and a music room in an 18th-century palazzo three minutes on foot from the Santa Croce basilica, sharing its address with Enoteca Pinchiorri, three Michelin stars since 2004. A family junior suite that sleeps five and babysitting make it our small-hotel pick for a family in the center; LHW member.
