Belmond in Italy: Every Hotel Scored, Priced and Compared
From the Cipriani to Taormina: Belmond's Italian hotels, measured and matched to the trip.
By Biirdee Travel, Luxury Travel Concierge · Updated October 3, 2026

Belmond has nine hotels in Italy that we track: the Cipriani in Venice, Caruso in Ravello on the Amalfi Coast, Splendido and Splendido Mare in Portofino, Grand Hotel Timeo and Villa Sant'Andrea in Taormina, Villa San Michele in Fiesole outside Florence, Castello di Casole in Tuscany and Romazzino on Sardinia's Costa Smeralda.
Three of them have enough recent reviews to enter our Belmond ranking, and all three sit in its top six: Grand Hotel Timeo (9.84 out of 10, third of the 15 Belmonds we could rank), Caruso (9.72, fifth) and the Cipriani (9.63, sixth). All nine hold MICHELIN Keys in 2026: Three at the Cipriani and at Splendido, which was promoted in 2026 and is one of the 18 hotels worldwide to receive Three Keys for the first time; Two at Splendido Mare (new), Grand Hotel Timeo, Villa Sant'Andrea and Castello di Casole; One at Caruso, Villa San Michele and Romazzino (new).
They are seasonal hotels, and our calendar shows it. None of the nine had rooms on our booking engine for the January or February 2027 midweek stay, and only four had rooms in November. Where Belmond confirms its season dates we say so below; where it does not, an empty month means only that nothing was bookable through us.
Our verdict: Grand Hotel Timeo is the Italian Belmond we would book first on guest scores, Caruso the one for the Amalfi Coast, and the Cipriani the one for Venice, if you can travel between June and September. For a trip outside high summer, Castello di Casole, Villa San Michele and Splendido Mare are the hotels with rooms in the shoulder months.
Belmond in Italy in Brief
- Grand Hotel Timeo in Taormina has the best current guest score of Belmond's Italian hotels: 9.84 out of 10 across its 100 most recent reviews, with none under 7.
- All nine hold MICHELIN Keys in 2026; Splendido in Portofino was promoted to Three, joining the Cipriani.
- None of the nine had rooms on our engine for the January or February 2027 midweek stay; the Cipriani reopens on 1 June 2027, Belmond says.
- June was the priciest month at four of the five hotels with rooms in our main calendar; the cheapest months fell at the edges of the season.
- The Cipriani was the most expensive Belmond anywhere on our July test stay ($3,535 a night); Splendido Mare was the cheapest Italian Belmond in November ($706).
- The cheapest rate included breakfast on every stay we priced at six of the seven Italian Belmonds with rooms.
How We Measured
On 1 October 2026 we priced every Italian Belmond through our own booking engine (the one behind hotels.biirdee.com) on four test stays for two adults (10–13 Nov 2026, 27–30 Dec 2026, 12–15 Mar 2027 and 15–18 Jul 2027) and on a two-night midweek stay (Tuesday to Thursday of the third week) in every month from November 2026 to October 2027, and we scored each hotel's 100 most recent verified guest reviews ourselves (all of them, where it has fewer): the mean out of 10, the share scoring 9 or more and the share under 7. † marks an older review window, starting before June 2024. Rates are the lowest per night the engine charged at booking that day; taxes the hotel collects at checkout are extra, and live rates change daily. Season dates come from Belmond's own hotel pages, checked on 2 and 3 October 2026.
Every Belmond in Italy, Scored and Priced
The three hotels with a current review window come first, in score order; the six with an older window (†) or a small sample follow. Rates: lowest per night on 10–13 Nov 2026, 27–30 Dec 2026, 12–15 Mar 2027 and 15–18 Jul 2027, priced 1 October 2026. "No rooms" means nothing was bookable on our engine.

Seasons and Keys, Hotel by Hotel
MICHELIN Keys are the 2026 selection. "What Belmond confirms" comes from each hotel's Belmond page, checked on 2 and 3 October 2026; where no date is given, we could not confirm one. The last column is what our engine had on sale for the Tuesday-to-Thursday stay in each month from November 2026 to October 2027.
| Hotel | MICHELIN Keys 2026 | What Belmond confirms | Months with rooms on our engine |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hotel Cipriani | Three | Closed for the season now (Cip's Club open to 25 October); the hotel reopens on 1 June 2027 | Jun to Sep 2027 |
| Caruso | One | Open on 3 October 2026 | Apr to Sep 2027 |
| Splendido | Three (promoted in 2026) | Open on 2 October 2026 | None |
| Splendido Mare | Two (new in 2026) | Open for the season until 6 January 2027 | Nov and Dec 2026; Mar to Sep 2027 |
| Grand Hotel Timeo | Two | Open on 3 October 2026 | Nov 2026; Apr to Oct 2027 |
| Villa Sant'Andrea | Two | Open on 2 October 2026 | Jun to Oct 2027 |
| Villa San Michele | One | Reopened 28 April 2026 after a renovation; open until 3 January 2027 | Nov and Dec 2026; Apr to Oct 2027 |
| Castello di Casole | Two | Open for the season until 29 November 2026 | Nov 2026; Mar to Oct 2027 |
| Romazzino | One (new in 2026) | No season dates confirmed | Jun, Aug and Sep 2027 |
When to Go
Where Belmond publishes dates, our calendar lines up with them. The Cipriani reopens on 1 June 2027, and June was the first month our engine could sell. Splendido Mare is open until 6 January and Villa San Michele until 3 January, which is why both had rooms in December and neither in January. Castello di Casole is open until 29 November, and our mid-November stay still found rooms there. For Caruso, Splendido, Grand Hotel Timeo, Villa Sant'Andrea and Romazzino we could not confirm the season, so their empty months mean only that nothing was on sale through us; ask us and we will check with the hotel.
Within the season, June was the priciest month at the Cipriani ($3,068), Caruso ($3,139), Villa San Michele ($2,661) and Castello di Casole ($2,207); Grand Hotel Timeo peaked in September ($2,471), Splendido Mare in July ($3,530) and Romazzino in August ($4,757). The cheapest months sat at the edges: April at Caruso ($1,147), November at Grand Hotel Timeo ($970) and Splendido Mare ($711), December at Villa San Michele ($1,028), March at Castello di Casole ($917) and October at Villa Sant'Andrea ($1,471). The Cipriani is the exception: its cheapest month was July ($2,207), with August close behind ($2,264).
The Hotels, One by One
Each hotel in turn: what Belmond and the 2026 guides confirm about it, and what our own rate checks and review scoring found.
Hotel Cipriani, Venice
The Cipriani has 55 rooms, 20 suites and 4 signature suites, the Casanova Gardens and what Belmond calls the largest pool in Venice. Peter Marino's renovation began in 2025 with a new lobby and 13 suites, and spring 2026 brought a Dior Spa and a reimagined Oro restaurant. It holds Three MICHELIN Keys and Forbes Five-Star, and it was No. 72 in The World's 50 Best Hotels 2025.
On our numbers it scores 9.63 out of 10 (91% scoring 9 or more, 5% under 7), sixth of the 15 Belmonds we could rank; couples wrote 63% of recent reviews, and the pool came up in 27% of written reviews (averaging 9.7) and breakfast in 20% (9.87). Our July test stay came to $3,535 a night with breakfast and free cancellation, the highest of any Belmond, and our calendar ran from $2,207 in July to $3,068 in June. More in our Cipriani guide.
Caruso, Ravello
An 11th-century palace above Ravello with 50 keys (17 rooms and 33 suites) plus a Signature Villa, a clifftop pool and gardens over the sea. Forbes Five-Star and One MICHELIN Key. Its recent guests score it 9.72 (91% scoring 9 or more, 2% under 7), the top score of the four Amalfi Coast hotels we track, and the view came up in 49% of written reviews. It was the priciest of those four on our July stay, at $2,771 a night with breakfast; April was its cheapest month on our calendar ($1,147) and June its dearest ($3,139). The full picture is in our Caruso guide.
Splendido and Splendido Mare, Portofino
Splendido, a former 16th-century Benedictine monastery with 53 rooms and suites, reopened in 2025 after a renovation by Martin Brudnizki, with Italy's first permanent Dior Spa, the Baratta Sedici bar and Villa Beatrice; La Terrazza and the Splendido Grill are under chef Corrado Corti. In 2026 it was promoted to Three MICHELIN Keys and placed No. 60 in The 50 Best Hotels (No. 83 in 2025). Our data on it is thin: its 64 reviews (9.64 out of 10) date from 2012 to 2022, before the renovation, and our engine had nothing to sell in any month, so we request it directly with the hotel.
Splendido Mare, on the harbour, has 14 rooms and suites, including the Ava Gardner Suite, and the DaV Mare restaurant on the Piazzetta; it is new at Two MICHELIN Keys in 2026 and open for the season until 6 January 2027. It scores 9.64 (91% scoring 9 or more, 3% under 7) on reviews from November 2022 to August 2026, and service came up in 67% of written reviews, averaging 9.88. It was the cheapest Italian Belmond on our November stay ($706 with breakfast) but the swing is the widest of the nine: from $711 a night midweek in November to $3,530 in July. In July the cheapest rate was room only ($2,929), and the cheapest rate with breakfast was $4,707.
Grand Hotel Timeo and Villa Sant'Andrea, Taormina
Grand Hotel Timeo stands beside Taormina's Greek Theatre, with origins in 1850, 67 rooms and 2 signature suites, plus Villa Timeo: 21 rooms designed by Laura Gonzalez, opened in 2026 with a private infinity pool. There is a new Dior Spa, and its restaurant Otto Geleng (chef Roberto Toro) holds one MICHELIN star in the 2026 Italy guide. It is Forbes Four-Star with Two MICHELIN Keys. On our numbers it is the best of Belmond's Italian hotels: 9.84 out of 10, 93% scoring 9 or more and none under 7, third of the 15 Belmonds we could rank. The view came up in 62% of written reviews (averaging 9.92) and food in 42% (9.88). Our cheapest rooms were Villa Timeo Junior Suites: $958 a night in November and $2,345 in July, both with breakfast; the Greek Theatre Suite topped the ladder at $2,417–5,149.
Villa Sant'Andrea, built in 1919 at Taormina Mare, is the beach option: 66 rooms and suites, the Lido Villeggiatura beach club, and Brizza, Ristorante Sant'Andrea, Brace and Gwendoline's Bar. Forbes Four-Star and Two MICHELIN Keys. It scores 9.38 (86% scoring 9 or more, 3% under 7) on reviews from October 2023 to August 2026; the beach came up in 32% of written reviews (averaging 9.35), while reviews that mention food averaged 8.89 and breakfast 8.5, its weakest topics. Our engine sold it from June to October 2027 only, from $1,471 in October to $2,312 in July; our July test stay was $2,315 a night with breakfast and free cancellation. See the best luxury hotels in Taormina.
Villa San Michele, Fiesole
A 15th-century monastery in Fiesole, outside Florence, with a façade attributed to the School of Michelangelo. It reopened on 28 April 2026 after an 18-month renovation by architect Luigi Fragola, with 39 keys, a new Villa San Michele Spa by Guerlain, and the Antesi and Ristorante San Michele restaurants under chef Alessandro Cozzolino; it is open until 3 January 2027 and holds One MICHELIN Key. Its 9.90 out of 10 rests on only 20 reviews, all written before the renovation (October 2018 to August 2024), so treat it as a pointer rather than a verdict.
On price it competes with the city: our three priced test stays came to $1,148 (November), $1,721 (New Year) and $2,146 (July) a night, all with breakfast, against $2,389 and $2,303 at Four Seasons Hotel Firenze for New Year and July. Free cancellation added 18% in November and December but only 2% in July. December ($1,028) was its cheapest month on our calendar and June ($2,661) its dearest. More Florence options are in our LHW Florence guide.
Castello di Casole, Tuscany
A 3,200-acre Tuscan estate with 39 suites and 2 signature villas, the Tosca restaurant, the Essere Spa in a former wine cellar and an infinity pool; it is open for the season until 29 November 2026 and holds Two MICHELIN Keys and Forbes Four-Star. Because it is all suites, every rate we found was for a Superior Junior Suite: $860 a night in November, $917 in March and $1,916 in July, with breakfast, and free cancellation added 10–11%. Villas with garden views topped the ladder at $5,558–10,432.
It scores 9.67 (91% scoring 9 or more, 1% under 7) on reviews from October 2019 to August 2026; food came up in 31% of written reviews (averaging 9.81) and the spa in 10% (9.4). March and November tied as its cheapest months on our calendar ($917) and June was the dearest ($2,207); in March it was the cheapest of the nine with rooms on our engine. See the best Tuscany countryside hotels.
Romazzino, Sardinia
Romazzino, at Porto Cervo on the Costa Smeralda, is new to the MICHELIN selection at One Key in 2026. On our numbers it is the weakest of Belmond's Italian hotels: 8.72 out of 10, with 67% scoring 9 or more and 16.7% under 7, though on only 36 reviews written between June 2019 and August 2026. Reviews that mention breakfast (25%) averaged 8.0 and the beach (21%) 8.2. Our engine had rooms only for June ($2,771), August ($4,757) and September ($2,016) 2027, and none for any of our four test stays. If Sardinia is the trip, compare it first in the best Sardinia luxury hotels.

How Belmond Compares as a Brand
Across all 15 Belmonds we could rank, the brand averages 9.53 out of 10 on recent reviews, with 89% of guests scoring 9 or more and 4.7% under 7: second only to Capella among the thirteen brands we track. Three of those 15 are Italian, and all three sit in the brand's top six. Every Belmond is priced on Belmond prices and ranked on the best Belmond hotels.
How Thirteen Luxury Brands Compare on Our Numbers
Our own numbers: the 100 most recent verified reviews at every hotel with enough of them on our booking platform, the Forbes Travel Guide 2026 ratings, and the lowest rate per night on the same three stays (10–13 Nov 2026, 12–15 Mar 2027, 15–18 Jul 2027) at every hotel each brand had on sale. Ten brands were pulled on 1 October 2026; the three marked * (Capella, One&Only and Waldorf Astoria) on 3 October 2026. Aman and Cheval Blanc sell too few rooms online to score. "Not comparable" means the brand's breakfast and room-only rates were sold as different packages, so the gap is not what breakfast costs.

What Biirdee Does
A concierge travel agency: paid by the hotel, never by you
Biirdee Travel books luxury hotels through preferred-partner programs: you pay the same rate as booking direct, the partner benefits attach to your reservation, and a human concierge handles the details end to end.
Tell us the trip
Destination or property, rough dates, who’s traveling. The form takes two minutes and commits you to nothing.
A concierge replies within hours
A real person checks availability, compares properties honestly, and confirms the perks your stay qualifies for: upgrades, breakfast, and credits where available.
Book at the same rate as direct
The hotel pays our commission out of the rate you’d pay anyway, so the perks cost you nothing. Before and during the trip, one concierge on WhatsApp handles requests and changes.
Flying too? The same team books business and first class: flights and hotels aligned as one itinerary, one point of contact.

Plan Belmond in Italy With Us
Tell us the dates and the stretch of Italy. We will price the Belmonds that are open, check the ones our engine cannot sell, and book as a preferred partner: upgrade priority, early check-in and late check-out priority, VIP recognition, a property credit where the programme offers one, daily breakfast where the rate does not already include it, and our WhatsApp concierge.
