Lufthansa Allegris First vs Allegris Business (2026): Same A350, the Routes, and the Miles & More Step Up

Lufthansa's new first class and its new business class share a handful of Munich A350-900s. Whether the step up is worth it is a Miles & More question more than a cash one: here is the math from the published charts and our own ledger.

Lufthansa Allegris First vs Allegris Business (2026): Same A350, the Routes, and the Miles & More Step Up

The Short Answer

The Munich A350-900s carry Allegris First in front of Allegris business; the Frankfurt 787-9s carry Allegris business with no first class; the Frankfurt 747-8 keeps the 2012-era first class until about 2027 or 2028. So Allegris First and Allegris business fly together only out of Munich: on San Francisco, Chicago, New York JFK, San Diego and Mumbai today, per the desk library, with Singapore to follow. From the US that is four cities: San Francisco, Chicago, New York JFK and San Diego. Allegris business reaches much further, on 29 US routes from 19 airports in our schedule data, because the Frankfurt 787-9s carry it without a first cabin.

The step up, in miles, is 36,000 miles on Miles & More's own figures (55,000 against 91,000 one-way), plus about $800 in carrier surcharges on the first class award. It is also the only door: since about June 2026 Lufthansa has released no first class award space to partner programs, so Aeroplan, which prices Allegris business at 60,000 points, cannot book the front cabin at all.

In our ledger Lufthansa First is a miles product: Of the 48 Allegris First tickets our desk issued between November 2024 and September 2026, 5 were paid fares and 43 used miles or points (41 through Lufthansa Miles & More, 2 through Air Canada Aeroplan). That is the opposite of SWISS, whose first class the desk books for cash.

Key Takeaways

  • Same aircraft, same flights: Allegris First and Allegris business share the Munich A350-900s to San Francisco, Chicago, New York JFK, San Diego and Mumbai; from the US, San Francisco, Chicago, New York JFK and San Diego.
  • Through Lufthansa Miles & More the step is 36,000 miles (55,000 in business against 91,000 in first, one-way from the US to Germany), plus about $800 in carrier surcharges on the first class award.
  • Miles & More is effectively the only program with Lufthansa First award space since about June 2026; 41 of our desk's 43 Lufthansa First awards used it.
  • Allegris business is the wider net: 29 US routes from 19 airports in our schedule data, on the Munich A350s and the Frankfurt 787-9s, which have no first class.
  • The older first class still flies from Frankfurt and Munich to San Francisco, Los Angeles, Miami and Boston in our tickets, with the 747-8's first class staying 2012-era until about 2027 or 2028.

When Allegris First Is Worth the Step

When you already hold the miles. No US bank currency transfers to Miles & More, so the first class award is open mainly to travelers with a Miles & More balance, and for them the step is modest: 36,000 more miles for a closed suite instead of a seat, with the First Class Terminal in Frankfurt and Lufthansa's first class ground product in Munich thrown in. Miles & More prices Lufthansa-operated awards dynamically since June 2025, so check the live figure before promising either number.

When the business seat you would get is one of the paid ones anyway. Allegris business is seven seat types in one cabin, and the ones people want, the front-row suites and the long-bed and extra-privacy seats, carry fees of €100 to €600 on top of the fare or the award. Once those are in the price, the gap to first narrows.

Not when the route is a Frankfurt 787-9, because there is no first class to step up to, and not when an aircraft swap takes the A350 away: Allegris First is specific to a subfleet, and a change keeps the route and loses the suite. In cash, the fare difference on your date decides, and the desk prices both cabins on every Germany quote.

The Traps Are the Same for Both Cabins

The swap. Both Allegris cabins on a Munich route depend on the A350-900 being rostered; an aircraft change keeps the route and loses both. Check the seat map at booking and again before departure.

The 747-8. The Frankfurt 747-8 gets Allegris business on its main deck from 2026, but its first class and upper-deck business stay 2012-era until about 2027 or 2028. Comfortable, private first class; not Allegris.

Germany in 2026. Lufthansa strikes in February and April cancelled more than 800 flights, the EU Entry/Exit System produced multi-hour border queues at Munich and Frankfurt in summer, and Frankfurt Terminal 3 opened in April with 57 non-Lufthansa airlines, so check the terminal on every Frankfurt booking. Munich remains the most forgiving big hub.

Where These Numbers Come From

Every route in these tables is checked against the schedule snapshot behind our route pages, so a route appears only if the airline flies it; distance and flight time are the same estimates those pages use. The evidence column says how we know first class is on it: "Desk library" is Biirdee's own carrier and aircraft reference, updated September 2026; "Ticketed by Biirdee" means our desk has issued first class tickets on that airline there between November 2024 and September 2026; "Award scan" means our award scanners have seen first class seats released on it; "Fare scan" means our fare scans have priced a first class fare on the nonstop. Data as of 23 September 2026.

Award prices are the programs' published charts as copied in our desk library: Lufthansa Miles & More (September 2026); Air Canada Aeroplan (June 2026). They are the chart's one-way price per person before taxes and carrier charges, not a price our scanners saw on a date, and a range is the one our own guide on the program states where the program publishes no single figure. The desk's fare and award scans are not published.

The Allegris business network is the one our Allegris guide derives from the schedule snapshot. Our desk issued 48 Lufthansa first class tickets between November 2024 and September 2026, 5 for cash and 43 on miles.

Allegris First vs Allegris Business FAQs

Is Allegris business class on the same aircraft as Allegris First?

On the Munich A350-900s, yes: Allegris First sits ahead of Allegris business to San Francisco, Chicago, New York JFK, San Diego and Mumbai. The Frankfurt 787-9s carry Allegris business with no first class, and the 747-8 carries Allegris business on its main deck with the older first class upstairs.

How many more miles is Allegris First than Allegris business class?

Through Lufthansa Miles & More the step is 36,000 miles: 55,000 in business against 91,000 in first, one-way from the US to Germany. Air Canada Aeroplan: No first class space since June 2026 in first against 60,000 points in business, from the US to Germany (lufthansa has released no first class award space to partner programs since about June 2026).

Which routes have both Allegris First and Allegris business from the US?

San Francisco, Chicago, New York JFK and San Diego to Munich, per the desk library and our schedule data, with Singapore joining later. Allegris business alone flies 29 US routes from 19 airports.

Can I book Allegris First with Aeroplan or United miles?

Not in practice. Since about June 2026 Lufthansa has released no first class award space to partner programs, so Miles & More is effectively the only way to use miles for it; Aeroplan and MileagePlus still book Allegris business.

Is Allegris business good enough?

Yes, in the right seat: the front-row suites and the long-bed and extra-privacy seats are excellent and carry fees of €100 to €600; the standard seats are an ordinary business class. Our desk picks the seat type on every Allegris booking.
