Lufthansa Allegris Business Class (2026): Is It Worth It, Which US Routes Have It, the Seven Seats and How to Book It With Miles
Lufthansa's first new business class in two decades, with seven kinds of seat in one cabin and a door at the front, arriving aircraft by aircraft while the old 2-2-2 still flies most US routes. Here is what our data says about where Allegris flies, which seat to pick, what it costs and how to book it for less.
By Biirdee Travel, Luxury Travel Concierge · Updated October 29, 2026

The Short Answer
- Worth it when you get it: Allegris is a 1-2-1 with direct aisle access for every seat, which the cabin it replaces never had, and the Suite Plus at the front is a double suite with a closing door. The catch is that in 2026 it is on a minority of Lufthansa's US flights, and the fare is the same for the 2-2-2.
- Lufthansa flies 29 nonstop routes between the US and its network in our schedule snapshot (between 19 August and 4 September 2026), and our own pages or first class route map name Allegris on every one.
- Our Munich and Frankfurt pages' published fare bands for the US routes are the cost anchor below; Lufthansa's published business fares to Germany are among the highest to Europe, and its sourced fares among the easiest to find.
- Two miles doors: 55,000 miles through Lufthansa Miles & More and 60,000 miles through Air Canada Aeroplan, both plus Lufthansa's surcharges.
- Against SWISS Senses: the same group's two new cabins are cousins; Allegris has more seat choice and the Munich A350 network, SWISS has the Zurich hub and a cabin arriving on a cleaner schedule. On a Germany trip, Allegris on a confirmed aircraft; otherwise the better fare.
Is Allegris Worth It?
Yes, and the question is really whether you can get it. Lufthansa flew the first Allegris cabin in May 2024 on the A350-900s based in Munich, and it replaces a business class that had 2-2-2 seating with half the window passengers climbing over a neighbour. Allegris is 1-2-1 with direct aisle access for everyone, and the cabin holds seven seat types: the Suite Plus in the first row, a double suite with closing doors, a table for two and a bed that joins; the single Suite beside it; window seats with extra length, extra width or extra privacy (the "Privacy" seat faces away from the aisle); and the Classic seat in the rest of the cabin. The extra-length, extra-width and suite seats sell at a supplement, which is the first time Lufthansa has priced seats within business class.
What stays the same is Lufthansa's soft product, which has always been better than its old seat: the Senator and Business lounges at Frankfurt and Munich, a proper German breakfast, and the First Class Terminal if you are in the cabin in front. Allegris First, on the same A350s, is the first class twin of this cabin, and our Lufthansa First Class guide tracks those routes; where our first class map shows Allegris First on a pair, Allegris business is in the cabin behind it, which is how four of the routes below are confirmed.
Where it is not worth a premium: a route where the aircraft on your date is an A340-300, an A330-300 or an older A350 or 747-8 still carrying the 2-2-2, which in 2026 is most of Frankfurt's US network. Lufthansa sells one business fare whatever the aircraft. If the seat is the point, United Airlines Polaris on the same pair is at least 1-2-1 every time, and SWISS Senses through Zurich is the same group's answer.
The Seat
Layout: 1-2-1 with seven seat types, from the Suite Plus with a closing door and a double bed to window seats with extra length, extra width or extra privacy, some sold at a supplement. Fitted: A350-900 (the Munich-based aircraft delivered with Allegris); 787-9 (from 2025); 747-8 (retrofit under way). Not fitted: the A340-300s, A330-300s, the older A350-900s and any 747-8 not yet retrofitted, which carry the 2-2-2 business class.
Which seat to pick: the Suite Plus for two travelling together, if the supplement is worth it to you; the Privacy seat for a solo traveller who wants to face the window; the Extra Long Bed for anyone over six foot two; the Classic seat for the rest. Every seat has a 4K screen, wireless charging and a heated or cooled seat surface. The seat map on Lufthansa's site labels the types, which is also how to tell an Allegris aircraft from a 2-2-2 one at booking.
Every Lufthansa Route From the US, and Where Our Data Names Allegris
Every nonstop pair between a US airport and Lufthansa's network in our schedule snapshot (between 19 August and 4 September 2026), with the great-circle distance and the gate-to-gate estimate our route pages use. Lufthansa flies Allegris and an older cabin side by side, so the aircraft on your date decides; the last column says where our own pages or our first class route map name Allegris, and "schedule only" means we have not confirmed the cabin on that route.

Which US Cities Have Allegris
19 US airports have a nonstop Allegris route in our data: Boston (2 routes), Chicago (2 routes), Denver (2 routes), Los Angeles (2 routes), Miami (2 routes) and New York JFK (2 routes), and 13 more airports. The busiest far ends are Frankfurt and Munich.
Lufthansa flies to Frankfurt from 17 US airports and Munich from twelve US airports in our snapshot, checked between 19 August and 4 September 2026. Allegris is Munich-led: the A350-900s delivered with it are based there, so the Munich routes from the West Coast and the East Coast are where it is most often scheduled, with the 787-9s bringing it to Frankfurt from 2025 and the 747-8 retrofit following. Lufthansa publishes the aircraft type by flight, and the booking seat map shows the Allegris seat types; a 2-2-2 map means the old cabin.
What Allegris Costs
Lufthansa sells one business class fare per route whatever the cabin, so Allegris costs what Lufthansa business costs, and Lufthansa's published business fares to Germany are among the highest across the Atlantic. The dated anchors are the published bands our Munich and Frankfurt pages give for the US routes.
Published Fare Bands on Allegris Routes
The typical published round-trip business class ranges our destination pages give for Munich and Frankfurt, each dated by its page; the notes say which airlines and routings the band covers.
| Destination | Route | Typical published fare | Notes | As of |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Munich | From the U.S. East Coast | $3,000–$6,500 round trip | Published fares as of September 2026. The Lufthansa JFK nonstop at about 8h25m anchors the market; one-stops via Frankfurt, Zurich or Amsterdam sit at the lower end, and a backtrack through Istanbul can go lower still if you will trade the hours for the fare. Our sourced fares land under this. | September 2026 |
| Munich | From the U.S. West Coast | $3,800–$7,500 round trip | Lufthansa from Los Angeles and San Francisco, United from San Francisco, all about twelve hours. An Allegris aircraft does not carry a higher business fare; what costs extra is selecting the extra-space or front-row seats inside that cabin. | September 2026 |
| Munich | From London and the UK | £400–£1,200 round trip | British Airways, Lufthansa and Lufthansa City Airlines on the roughly 100-minute Heathrow run. This is short-haul business money, not lie-flat money; the bottom of the band is a discounted advance purchase, the top is a fully flexible ticket. | September 2026 |
| Munich | From Gulf hubs (DXB, DOH) | $2,400–$4,500 round trip | Emirates and Lufthansa from Dubai in about 6h05m, Qatar Airways from Doha in about 5h45m. Genuine lie-flat on a six-hour leg, and among the cheapest lie-flat seats into Munich we see. | September 2026 |
| Munich | From Asian hubs (SIN, HND, BKK, HKG) | $3,500–$7,500 round trip | Eleven to thirteen hours nonstop on Lufthansa, Singapore Airlines, All Nippon, Thai or Cathay Pacific; Gulf one-stops undercut the nonstops more often than not. | September 2026 |
| Munich | Peak (Oktoberfest and the Christmas markets) | Top of every range above | Mid-September to the first weekend of October, then late November until Christmas. Cabins and hotels sell out together; four to six months of lead time is the difference between the bottom and the top of the band. | September 2026 |
| Frankfurt | From the U.S. East Coast, Miami & Toronto | $2,800–$5,800 round trip | Four nonstop carriers from JFK alone (Lufthansa, Delta, Condor and Singapore Airlines) keep Frankfurt among Europe’s cheaper business destinations; Lufthansa and Condor fly from Miami, Air Canada, Lufthansa and Condor from Toronto (as of September 2026). | October 2026 |
| Frankfurt | From the U.S. West Coast | $3,800–$7,000 round trip | Lufthansa from Los Angeles and San Francisco, United from SFO, Condor seasonally; about 12 hours in the air. | October 2026 |
| Frankfurt | From London | £500–£1,400 round trip | Heathrow on British Airways, Lufthansa and Lufthansa City Airlines, Gatwick on Condor; short-haul eurobusiness with a blocked middle seat, not lie-flat. Paris, Amsterdam and Barcelona sit in a similar band in euros. | October 2026 |
| Frankfurt | From Dubai & Doha | $2,500–$5,000 round trip | Emirates and Qatar Airways nonstop in about 6–6.5 hours, Lufthansa from Dubai. One-stop itineraries from India price close to this band; from Australia they run well above it, and we quote those separately. | October 2026 |
| Frankfurt | From Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo & Seoul | $4,500–$9,000 round trip | 11–13-hour nonstops on the home carriers and Lufthansa; Air China from Beijing and Shanghai, China Eastern from Shanghai, tend to price lowest, and Gulf one-stops often undercut the nonstops. | October 2026 |
| Frankfurt | Peak (trade fairs & Christmas markets) | Top of the ranges above | Ambiente in February, the Frankfurt Book Fair in mid-October and the Christmas-market weeks from late November sell cabins and hotels out first. | October 2026 |
Booking Allegris With Miles, and for Less Than the Published Fare
Lufthansa Miles & More: 55,000 miles one-way in Lufthansa business class from the US to Germany, the published one-way business class level between North America and Europe, plus Lufthansa's surcharges (as of June 2026).
Air Canada Aeroplan: 60,000 miles one-way in Lufthansa business class from the US to Germany, Aeroplan's distance chart for 4,001 to 6,000 miles; 70,000 for the longer West Coast routes, plus Lufthansa's surcharges (as of June 2026).
Lufthansa's surcharges are the arithmetic on any award: several hundred dollars each way through Miles & More and through Aeroplan alike, since Aeroplan passes Lufthansa's charges through. United MileagePlus is the one Star Alliance door that does not add them, at a higher miles price, and the desk prices all three on the date. Allegris aircraft release the same partner space as the old cabin; nothing in the award systems distinguishes the two, so an award on an Allegris flight is a matter of picking the right flight number.
Below the published fare, Lufthansa is one of the most sourceable airlines from the US: it sells heavily into the consolidator channel, and a sourced business fare on a Germany nonstop typically lands well under the published band, more so on the East Coast routes. Send the dates and we price the sourced fare against the awards and tell you which flights have the new cabin.
Allegris vs SWISS Senses
The two are cousins. SWISS Senses is the Lufthansa Group's second new long-haul cabin, arriving on SWISS's A330s through a retrofit and on its new A350-900s from Zurich: a 1-2-1 with suites with doors at the front, the same idea as Allegris with fewer seat types and a cleaner map. Allegris has the wider choice (and the supplements that come with choosing); Senses has the more consistent cabin on the aircraft that carry it.
On the network, Lufthansa flies to Frankfurt and Munich from 19 US airports in our data; SWISS flies to Zurich from about half as many, and for a Germany trip Zurich is a connection. On the ground, Lufthansa's Frankfurt and Munich lounges and SWISS's Zurich lounges are level in business class; the First Class Terminal and the Senses First suite are the cabin in front. On miles, both price identically through Miles & More and Aeroplan, surcharges included.
Our pick: Allegris on a confirmed Allegris aircraft for a Germany trip; Senses on a confirmed Senses aircraft for Switzerland or a connection south; and on any date where both would be the old cabin, the better fare, which is often a sourced fare on Lufthansa. Our SWISS First Class guide covers the cabin in front.
The Traps We Steer Clients Around
The aircraft. An Allegris booking is a Lufthansa business booking, and when the A350 or 787-9 is swapped for an A340 or an older 747, you get the 2-2-2 with no recourse. Check the seat map at booking and a week out; a map with seat types labelled is Allegris.
The supplements. The Suite Plus, Suite, Extra Space and Extra Long Bed seats are sold on top of the fare, and the supplement is per flight; the Classic and Privacy seats are the same cabin for nothing extra.
The surcharge arithmetic. Miles & More and Aeroplan both add Lufthansa's charges, which can be several hundred dollars each way; price MileagePlus alongside them, and the sourced fare against all three.
Where These Numbers Come From
Every route in the table is checked against the schedule snapshot behind our route pages (between 19 August and 4 September 2026), so a route appears only if the airline flies it nonstop; distance and flight time are the same estimates those pages use. The last column says how our own data knows Allegris is on it: "the aircraft in our first class map" means the aircraft that carries Allegris is the one our first class route data lists on the pair; "named on our page" means the destination page for one end of the route names Allegris in its airline notes. Seat facts are Lufthansa's published description of the cabin as of October 2026; award prices are the programs' published charts or our desk library, dated where quoted.
The fare bands are quoted from our Munich and Frankfurt pages, each dated on the page; the routes marked "the aircraft in our first class map" are the pairs our Lufthansa First Class guide lists with Allegris First, which flies on the same A350s.
Lufthansa Allegris FAQs
Is Lufthansa Allegris worth it?
Yes when you get it: a 1-2-1 with direct aisle access, seven seat types, and a double suite with a door at the front, replacing a 2-2-2 that was the weakest business class to Europe. The fare is the same for either cabin, so the aircraft on your date is the whole question, and in 2026 most Frankfurt routes still fly the old one.
Which routes have Allegris from the US?
Lufthansa flies 29 nonstop pairs between 19 US airports and Frankfurt and Munich in our schedule snapshot (between 19 August and 4 September 2026), and Allegris is on the A350-900s based in Munich, the 787-9s from 2025 and the retrofitted 747-8s, so the Munich routes are where it is most often scheduled. The table above lists every route and where our own data names the cabin; Lufthansa's seat map shows the seat types on an Allegris flight.
Which Allegris seat should I choose?
The Privacy seat (window, facing away from the aisle) for a solo traveller; the Suite Plus for two together, at a supplement; the Extra Long Bed for anyone over six foot two, at a supplement; the Classic seat otherwise. All have direct aisle access, a 4K screen and wireless charging.
How much does Allegris cost?
What Lufthansa business costs on the route, whatever the cabin: the fares table above quotes the published business class bands our Munich and Frankfurt pages give for the US routes, each dated. Lufthansa's published fares to Germany are high and its sourced fares are easy to find; a sourced fare through our desk comes in well below the band.
How do I book Allegris with miles?
Lufthansa Miles & More: 55,000 miles one-way in Lufthansa business class from the US to Germany, the published one-way business class level between North America and Europe, plus Lufthansa's surcharges (as of June 2026). Air Canada Aeroplan: 60,000 miles one-way in Lufthansa business class from the US to Germany, Aeroplan's distance chart for 4,001 to 6,000 miles; 70,000 for the longer West Coast routes, plus Lufthansa's surcharges (as of June 2026). Both add Lufthansa's surcharges; United MileagePlus does not, at a higher miles price. Nothing in the award systems marks an Allegris flight, so the desk picks the flight numbers with the new aircraft.
Allegris or SWISS Senses?
Allegris on a confirmed Allegris aircraft for a Germany trip; SWISS Senses on a confirmed Senses aircraft for Switzerland or a connection south. The two are the same group's cousin cabins; on a date when either would be the old seat, the better fare wins.
