Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Award Cancellation and Change Fees (2026): How to Cancel or Change a Redemption Ticket

The Short Answer

As of September 2026, Singapore Airlines charges US$75 to cancel a KrisFlyer Saver award and redeposit the miles, and US$50 to cancel an Advantage or Access award. Changing the date of a Singapore Airlines flight costs US$25 on a Saver award and nothing on Advantage or Access; changing the route, cabin or award type, or adding a stopover, costs US$25 on all three; and any change to an award on a partner airline costs US$50. The fees are stated per ticket, are payable in US dollars or the local equivalent, and stack when you make more than one change.

Two conditions govern every refund: the miles and the ticket must still be valid, and the award must be completely unused. Miles are never refunded on a partially used award, and if you miss the flight Singapore Airlines adds a no-show fee before it will redeposit anything: US$100 in Economy, US$200 in Premium Economy and US$300 in Business or First, on top of the redeposit fee. Its own worked example: a missed Economy Saver flight costs US$100 plus US$75, so US$175, to get the miles back.

The taxes you paid are refunded to the card, with the miles re-deposited immediately after the refund request is completed and the tax refund following in up to six weeks. This page sets out the fee grid, the how-to, the partner and promotional exceptions, and the pages on singaporeair.com that state each rule. For the program itself see our Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer guide; for every major program side by side see award ticket cancellation fees compared.

Key Takeaways

  • Redeposit fee: US$75 for Saver awards, US$50 for Advantage and Access awards, per ticket, provided the award is completely unused and the miles and ticket are still valid.
  • Date changes on Singapore Airlines flights cost US$25 on Saver and nothing on Advantage or Access; route, cabin, award-type and stopover changes cost US$25; partner-airline award changes cost US$50.
  • A no-show adds US$100 to US$300 by cabin on top of the redeposit fee, so cancel online before departure, even on the day.
  • Extra miles are charged when a change needs a higher award level, and the difference is never refunded when the new itinerary needs fewer; cancelling and rebooking is the only way to capture a cheaper price.
  • Doing any redemption transaction through an office or the hotline adds US$25 or 2,500 miles, waived for PPS Club members and for anything that cannot be done online.

KrisFlyer Award Change and Cancellation Fees at a Glance

Every row is Singapore Airlines' own rule as published on singaporeair.com in September 2026. Fees apply to tickets issued, are payable in US dollars or the local currency equivalent, and are cumulative when several changes are made. Access is the flexible redemption type launched on 1 November 2025 and follows the Advantage conditions.

How to Cancel a KrisFlyer Award Ticket

Step 1: log in to singaporeair.com with the KrisFlyer account that made the booking and retrieve the booking under Manage Booking, using the six-character booking reference and the passenger's last name as it appears in the passport. Singapore Airlines' instruction for an unused award is direct: log in and manage the relevant booking on singaporeair.com. Step 2: choose the cancel option and confirm; you cannot cancel a single segment, only the whole ticket including connections, and an online cancellation cannot be reversed, so the ticket has to be rebooked if you change your mind. Step 3: the miles are re-deposited to your account immediately after the refund request is completed, and the airport taxes are refunded to the card, or by cheque, within up to six weeks depending on your bank.

You have to call KrisFlyer Membership Services (in the US, +1 833 727 0118) when a segment of the award has already been flown, when the itinerary is multi-city, and for most partner-airline awards, which are booked and managed through Membership Services rather than online. Offline transactions carry the US$25 or 2,500-mile service fee unless you are a PPS Club member or the transaction could not have been done online, in which case it is waived.

There is no published "cancel before departure" deadline in the KrisFlyer rules; what the rules say instead is that a passenger who fails to show up is treated as a no-show and charged the no-show fee before any redeposit. The practical rule is the same: cancel before the flight leaves, even an hour before, and you pay US$75 or US$50; miss it and you pay US$175 or more.

How to Change a KrisFlyer Award Ticket

Date and time changes, and even route changes, can be made online through Manage Booking, and Singapore Airlines shows the fee and any mileage difference before you confirm. On its own flights, a date change costs US$25 on a Saver award and nothing on Advantage or Access; a change of route, cabin or award type, or adding a stopover, costs US$25 on all three. On a partner airline, any change of date, route, flight or carrier costs US$50. The reissued ticket must be for the same person, must keep the original expiry date (or an earlier one, if the first flight moves earlier), and must stay on the same airline.

The mileage rule is asymmetric and worth planning around. If the new itinerary needs more miles, the difference is charged; if it needs fewer, the excess cannot be refunded. So a change from Advantage to Saver pricing, or to a cheaper route, gives nothing back, while cancelling for US$50 or US$75 and rebooking captures the lower level in full. Since 1 November 2025, when Singapore Airlines adjusted its award charts, pure date changes on tickets issued before that date need no extra miles subject to ticket validity, but any other change is priced at the new levels, and a cancel-and-rebook is issued at the new levels too.

Two more changes have their own rules. Changes to redemption upgrades and stopovers cannot be made online and go through Membership Services, and flight-number or date changes on a waitlisted segment are not available online either. Award tickets are valid for twelve months from first issue, and a change cannot push travel beyond that validity.

Waitlists, Partner Awards and Promotional Fares

KrisFlyer's waitlist is one of the reasons to hold the miles, and it has its own housekeeping. You can waitlist a Saver or Advantage award up to three weeks before departure, Singapore Airlines notifies you of the outcome by two weeks out and cancels unsuccessful waitlists at that point, and a waitlisted upgrade can be held to the day of departure. A confirmed waitlist has to be ticketed by its ticketing time limit or the entire itinerary is cancelled. To drop a waitlist, retrieve the booking online and use "Cancel flights"; no fee is stated for cancelling a waitlist that was never ticketed.

Partner-airline awards on Star Alliance and other partners are priced from a separate chart and, since only Saver-type pricing exists on partners, cost US$50 to change and US$75 to redeposit. No changes at all are allowed on a partially used partner ticket, destination or airline changes are only possible before travel begins, and the passenger's use of the award is governed by both Singapore Airlines' terms and the operating airline's. Singapore Airlines collects any fuel or other surcharges the partner imposes at ticketing and does not state on its pages whether they are refunded on cancellation, so assume the taxes come back and ask about the surcharge.

Spontaneous Escapes, the monthly discounted awards bookable only online, permit no changes and no cancellation, used or unused, so they suit only firm plans. Scoot award flights are non-cancellable and non-refundable except for medical reasons, the death of a passenger or immediate family member, or a schedule change or disruption of two hours or more, and cancellations go through Scoot rather than Singapore Airlines. Upgrade awards on a cash ticket follow the same redeposit row as flight awards and are re-credited if the underlying ticket is changed in a way that voids the upgrade.

Taxes, Expiring Miles and Refund Timing

Taxes, airport charges and any surcharges are collected in US dollars or local currency at ticketing and must be paid by card. When an award is refunded, the taxes are refunded to the credit or debit card used, or by cheque, and Singapore Airlines' FAQ allows up to six weeks depending on the bank; its general refund page says card refunds are normally processed within two weeks and other payment methods within three, and for US-market tickets its Customer Service Plan commits to seven business days for card purchases and 20 for cash or cheque, in the original form of payment.

The miles are the faster half: Singapore Airlines says they are re-deposited immediately after the refund request is completed. The catch is validity. KrisFlyer miles expire 36 months after they are earned, and the redeposit conditions require the miles to be valid at the time of redepositing, so miles that have expired while sitting inside an award ticket are not returned. If the miles behind a booking you may cancel are close to expiry, extend them first: log in, go to Miles Validity, and pay 1,200 miles or US$12 per 10,000 miles, which can be done once per batch. Purchased top-up miles are non-refundable in cash, and there is no credit card fee on redemption bookings.

Deadlines, No-Shows and the 24-Hour Rule

For itineraries to or from the United States, Singapore Airlines' Customer Service Plan allows a booking made on its website to be cancelled without penalty within 24 hours of booking, as long as the reservation was made a week or more before departure; you must call the contact center to cancel such a booking, and Singapore Airlines will not retain a processing fee. Outside the US there is no equivalent cooling-off rule on singaporeair.com, so the fee grid applies from the moment of ticketing.

The rules give no last-minute cut-off before departure the way British Airways or Aeroplan do; instead they treat a missed flight as a no-show and add the cabin-based no-show fee to the redeposit fee. Because Singapore Airlines' cancellations page also warns that a booking cancelled online cannot be reinstated, the order of operations matters: secure the replacement booking or the waitlist first, then cancel the old award before its departure time.

When Singapore Airlines cancels or disrupts the flight, award passengers are re-routed under the same rules as fare-paying passengers, and for US itineraries the Department of Transportation's refund rule entitles you to a refund of the miles and taxes if you choose not to travel after a cancellation or significant change. Our award cancellation fees guide covers those involuntary-change rules across every program.

How Biirdee Makes KrisFlyer Changes and Cancellations Seamless

When Biirdee books a KrisFlyer award with your miles, the exit rules are set out before ticketing: whether the award is Saver, Advantage or Access, what a date change costs on that type, and what the redeposit and no-show fees would be. From then on a change or cancellation is one WhatsApp message: your concierge makes the change in Manage Booking or through Membership Services, times the cancellation so no no-show fee ever applies, keeps the waitlist alive where one exists, confirms the miles are back and follows the tax refund through to your card. If the miles behind the booking are near expiry, we extend them before touching the ticket.

When plans move rather than die, we price the options side by side: change the date for US$25, cancel and rebook to capture a cheaper level, or drop the award for one of our negotiated business-class fares, which on Singapore Airlines routes can cost less all-in than an Advantage-level award and earns miles and status where the award earns nothing. You approve; we execute. Start a free flight quote and mention the booking reference.

KrisFlyer Award Cancellation FAQs

How much does it cost to cancel a KrisFlyer award ticket?

US$75 for a Saver award and US$50 for an Advantage or Access award, per ticket, to redeposit the miles, provided the ticket is completely unused and the miles and ticket are still valid. The taxes are refunded to your card. Doing it through an office or the hotline adds US$25 or 2,500 miles unless you are a PPS Club member.

How do I cancel a Singapore Airlines award ticket online?

Log in to singaporeair.com, retrieve the booking under Manage Booking with the booking reference and last name, and cancel it. Singapore Airlines says the miles are re-deposited immediately after the refund request is completed and the airport taxes follow within up to six weeks. If a segment has already been flown, or the award is on a partner airline or multi-city, call KrisFlyer Membership Services instead.

What happens if I miss a KrisFlyer award flight?

You are treated as a no-show and a no-show fee is added before any redeposit: US$100 in Economy, US$200 in Premium Economy and US$300 in Business or First, on top of the US$75 or US$50 redeposit fee. Singapore Airlines' own example is US$175 for a missed Economy Saver flight. Cancel before departure and the no-show fee never applies.

Is there a fee to change the date on a KrisFlyer award?

On Singapore Airlines flights, US$25 for a Saver award and nothing for Advantage or Access; on a partner airline, US$50. Changing the route, cabin or award type, or adding a stopover, costs US$25 on Singapore Airlines. Extra miles are charged if the new flight needs a higher level, and the difference is not refunded if it needs fewer.

Do I get the taxes back when I cancel a KrisFlyer award?

Yes. Singapore Airlines refunds the airport taxes to the credit or debit card used, or by cheque, when the award is refunded, allowing up to six weeks depending on your bank. Taxes on the unused portion of a partially used award are also refundable, even though the miles are not.

Can I get miles back on a partially used KrisFlyer award?

No. KrisFlyer miles cannot be refunded for partially used award tickets, upgrade awards or redemption tickets. A partly used Singapore Airlines ticket can still have its dates changed, but not its route, cabin or award type, and a partly used partner ticket cannot be changed at all.

Does the 24-hour cancellation rule apply to KrisFlyer awards?

For itineraries to or from the United States, yes: a booking made on singaporeair.com a week or more before departure can be cancelled without penalty within 24 hours of booking, but you have to call the contact center to do it. Singapore Airlines publishes no equivalent rule for other markets.

Can Biirdee cancel or change my KrisFlyer award for me?

Yes. For awards our desk books with your miles, changes and cancellations are handled end to end by your concierge over WhatsApp, including waitlists, mileage extensions and the tax refund. If you booked the award yourself, tell us the details and we will say which fee applies and whether changing, cancelling and rebooking, or switching to one of our negotiated cash fares is the cheapest move.
