SWISS Senses First vs SWISS Senses Business (2026): Same A350, the Routes, and Why Both Are Cash Cabins

SWISS's new first class and its new business class arrived together on the A350, and so far they fly together on a short list of routes. The step up is a cash question on SWISS, because Miles & More prices both cabins off the fare: here is the map and our own ledger.

SWISS Senses First vs SWISS Senses Business (2026): Same A350, the Routes, and Why Both Are Cash Cabins

The Short Answer

The new A350s carry SWISS Senses First in front of SWISS Senses business, both with doors; the rest of the long-haul fleet keeps the earlier first class and the older business cabin until about 2030. In our data SWISS Senses First and SWISS Senses business fly together on Boston and Seoul, per the desk library, with Boston the only US route on the new aircraft today. The earlier first class, with the older business cabin behind it, flies Los Angeles, Miami, San Francisco and Dubai in our data. From the US that is four cities with a first cabin in all: Boston, Los Angeles, Miami and San Francisco.

The step up is smaller on the A350 than on the older aircraft. SWISS Senses business is a 1-2-1 with a door and, on the window side, the "throne" seats with a double console; SWISS Senses First is a closed suite with a wider bed and the first class lounge at Zurich. On the older 777s and A330s, business is a staggered seat without a door and first is a wide, open cabin of eight, so there the step is a bigger one.

On miles the two cabins are priced the same way, which is to say by the fare: miles & More has priced SWISS-operated awards dynamically since June 2025, tracking the cash fare, with carrier surcharges on top; no US bank currency transfers to it. Of the 14 SWISS Senses First tickets our desk issued between November 2024 and September 2026, 14 were paid fares and none used miles. SWISS first class is a cash product on our ledger, and so, for most clients, is SWISS business.

Key Takeaways

  • Same aircraft on the new routes: the A350 carries SWISS Senses First and SWISS Senses business together on Boston and Seoul in our data, Boston being the US route.
  • The earlier first class flies Los Angeles, Miami and San Francisco from the US, with the older business cabin behind it; SWISS keeps those cabins on the rest of the long-haul fleet until about 2030.
  • Miles & More prices SWISS awards dynamically in both cabins, tracking the cash fare, with carrier surcharges on top; no US bank currency transfers to it, so a US traveler's door is a partner program's chart, and partner first class space on SWISS is rare.
  • All 14 SWISS first class tickets our desk issued were paid fares; none used miles.
  • Both cabins share the Zurich trap: a connection to a Schengen destination crosses the entry-exit system's biometric border, which the desk now plans extra time for.

When SWISS First Is Worth the Step

On the older aircraft, more often. The earlier SWISS first class is one of the most spacious cabins on the Atlantic, eight seats with a 32-inch screen and a bed wide enough to turn over in, and the business cabin behind it is a staggered seat with no door, so on Los Angeles, San Francisco and Miami the step up is from a good 2016 business class to a genuinely private first. The Zurich first lounge, with its restaurant and a car to the aircraft, comes with it.

On the A350, less often. SWISS Senses business is a doored 1-2-1 with a real bed, and the window thrones are close to a first class seat in width. SWISS Senses First adds a closed suite, a wider bed and the lounge, which on a Boston overnight is a modest gain for a fare that is usually a large multiple of business.

On miles, the cabin matters less than the program. Miles & More prices both cabins off the fare, so the step up in miles is whatever the step up in cash is on your date, and no US bank currency transfers to it. A partner program's chart is the US traveler's door, and SWISS releases its first class to partners rarely; our desk has booked SWISS first for cash every time, and sources the fare below the published figure on most dates.

The Traps Are the Same for Both Cabins

The aircraft generation. SWISS flies two first classes and two business classes under one name each, and the booking shows neither. The seat map tells you: a 1-2-1 with doors and three first class suites is the A350; a staggered 1-2-1 and eight open first seats is the older aircraft.

The Schengen border. A connection at Zurich to a Schengen destination crosses the biometric entry-exit border on arrival, which now takes longer than the old stamp; the desk plans more than the minimum connection in both cabins.

The partner award. Through Aeroplan or another Star Alliance chart, SWISS business space is thin and SWISS first class space rare, so a plan built on a partner first class award on SWISS usually ends in business or in cash. Price the sourced fare first.

Where These Numbers Come From

Every route in these tables is checked against the schedule snapshot behind our route pages, so a route appears only if the airline flies it; distance and flight time are the same estimates those pages use. The evidence column says how we know first class is on it: "Desk library" is Biirdee's own carrier and aircraft reference, updated September 2026; "Ticketed by Biirdee" means our desk has issued first class tickets on that airline there between November 2024 and September 2026; "Award scan" means our award scanners have seen first class seats released on it; "Fare scan" means our fare scans have priced a first class fare on the nonstop. Data as of 23 September 2026.

Award prices are the programs' published charts as copied in our desk library: Lufthansa Miles & More (September 2026). They are the chart's one-way price per person before taxes and carrier charges, not a price our scanners saw on a date, and a range is the one our own guide on the program states where the program publishes no single figure. The desk's fare and award scans are not published.

Our desk issued 14 SWISS first class tickets between November 2024 and September 2026, all for cash. The Miles & More pricing rule is our Miles & More guide's.

SWISS First vs SWISS Business FAQs

Is SWISS Senses business on the same aircraft as SWISS Senses First?

Yes: both arrived with the A350, which carries three first class suites in front of the doored business cabin. In our data that is Boston and Seoul from Zurich; Boston is the US route. The rest of the long-haul fleet flies the earlier first class and the older business cabin until about 2030.

How many more miles is SWISS Senses First than SWISS Senses business class?

Lufthansa Miles & More: Dynamic in first against Dynamic in business, from the US to Zurich (miles & More has priced SWISS-operated awards dynamically since June 2025, tracking the cash fare, with carrier surcharges on top; no US bank currency transfers to it).

Which US routes have SWISS first class?

Boston, Los Angeles, Miami and San Francisco to Zurich in our data: Boston on the A350 with SWISS Senses First, and Los Angeles, Miami and San Francisco on the earlier first class. Every SWISS US route carries a business cabin.

Can I book SWISS first class with points?

Rarely. Miles & More prices SWISS awards dynamically in both cabins, tracking the cash fare, and no US bank currency transfers to it; partner programs see little SWISS first class space. Every SWISS first class ticket our desk has issued was a paid fare, sourced below the published figure.

Is SWISS business good enough?

On the A350, yes: a 1-2-1 with a door and a real bed, and the window thrones are the pick. On the older 777s and A330s the staggered seat has no door and the gap to the earlier first class, one of the roomiest on the Atlantic, is a big one. The seat map tells you which aircraft you have.
