The index aggregates the published-fare guidance ranges maintained on Biirdee's 154 destination pages — editorial retail benchmarks stated per origin market ("from the U.S. East Coast", "from London"), current as of August–September 2026. They are what airlines publicly charge, not booked-fare averages and not live inventory: treat them as orientation for what a route should cost at retail, not as offers. Regional figures use USD-denominated origin rows only (686 of 802 total rows; non-USD rows appear on the destination pages in their own currencies), the range is the min and max across the region's rows, and the median is the median of each range's midpoint. Seasonal and event-peak rows are excluded from the aggregates.
What the index deliberately does not show is discounted pricing. Biirdee's consolidator fares are contracted privately and vary by route, date, and inventory — publishing a fixed discounted number would be the kind of too-good-to-be-true claim our own vetting checklist warns about. The honest statement is the one we can stand behind: contracted fares typically land 30–70% below the published ranges above, and a free quote states your route's exact number in writing.
Underneath the fare index sits Biirdee's route dataset: 8,188 route pairs tracked from 64 origin airports, of which 7,637 (93.3%) are verified against premium-cabin award inventory across 25 mileage programs (inventory snapshot June 2026; carrier schedule snapshots August–September 2026). The fare ranges are stated as of August–September 2026 and the index regenerates from the underlying destination data whenever it changes — the "updated" date at the top reflects the last refresh. Award-inventory verification reflects a June 2026 snapshot; carrier schedules were sampled in August–September 2026.
