The Swiss-based line, founded in 1997, decided what a cruise did not need — children, casinos, formal nights, art auctions, the whole carnival layer — and removed it, leaving quiet ships, one coherent Scandinavian design language and a schedule built around the destination. The formula proved portable: the same sensibility now spans European rivers, the Nile, ocean voyages and expedition sailings, so a guest can move between formats without relearning the brand.
Inclusions follow the same logic of decisions removed. A shore excursion is included in each port, Wi-Fi and beer and wine with meals are part of the fare, and enrichment leans toward lectures and local culture rather than production spectacle.
