The Best Luxury Hotels in Madrid, Honestly Ranked
The 1910 Ritz facing the Prado, seven historic buildings off Puerta del Sol, a ducal palace by the Teatro Real and the society hotel of the Castellana: the capital's top tier, decoded.
By Biirdee Travel, Luxury Travel Concierge · Updated October 28, 2026

Where to stay in Madrid comes down to three areas, all within a half-hour walk of each other. Centro, the old city between the Royal Palace and the Paseo del Prado, holds three of our picks: Four Seasons and Gran Hotel Inglés between Puerta del Sol and the Barrio de las Letras, and Palacio de los Duques in the royal quarter by the Teatro Real. Salamanca, the 19th-century grid of boutiques along Calle Serrano and Calle Velázquez, has the Rosewood Villa Magna on the Paseo de la Castellana, BLESS and the Hotel Fénix on Plaza de Colón. Between them, facing the Prado and a short walk from Retiro Park, stands the Mandarin Oriental Ritz, the grandest address in the city. Madrid is at its best in May and June and in September and October; August empties the city.

On business, Villa Magna sits on the Paseo de la Castellana, the city's business avenue, with a business center and meeting rooms, and Four Seasons has 1,436 square meters of event space and a business center in the center. Travelers on their own want a walkable door and a bar that welcomes one: Gran Hotel Inglés has 48 rooms, the LobByto cocktail bar and Puerta del Sol a few minutes away, and the Hotel Fénix has its cocktail bar, Colón metro steps away and the gentlest rate of our seven. Madrid Hotel FAQs
What is the best hotel in Madrid?
Mandarin Oriental Ritz, Madrid: the 1910 Ritz facing the Prado, Forbes Five-Star, the only hotel in the city with Three MICHELIN Keys, with Deessa's two Michelin stars and a spa with an indoor pool. Four Seasons Hotel Madrid is the best of the center, Rosewood Villa Magna the grand hotel of Salamanca, and Gran Hotel Inglés the best small hotel.
Centro or Salamanca?

Salamanca for the boutiques of Calle Serrano and quieter, wider streets, with Rosewood Villa Magna, BLESS and the Hotel Fénix. The Ritz sits between them, facing the Prado. Can I find a luxury hotel in Madrid under $200 a night?
Not among the hotels we rank. The gentlest is the Hotel Fénix, from about €300 a night, then BLESS from about €350 and Palacio de los Duques from about €400; the Ritz, Four Seasons and Villa Magna start between about $780 and $890 on our checks. Below that level we would rather find you a better room at one of these than a lesser hotel.
When are Madrid hotels cheapest?
It depends on the hotel. May, June, September and October are the best months to visit; August is hot and quiet, when many Madrileños leave the city.

What Biirdee Does
A concierge travel agency: paid by the hotel, never by you
Biirdee Travel books luxury hotels through preferred-partner programs: you pay the same rate as booking direct, the partner benefits attach to your reservation, and a human concierge handles the details end to end.
Tell us the trip
Destination or property, rough dates, who’s traveling. The form takes two minutes and commits you to nothing.
A concierge replies within hours
A real person checks availability, compares properties honestly, and confirms the perks your stay qualifies for: upgrades, breakfast, and credits where available.
Book at the same rate as direct
The hotel pays our commission out of the rate you’d pay anyway, so the perks cost you nothing. Before and during the trip, one concierge on WhatsApp handles requests and changes.
Flying too? The same team books business and first class: flights and hotels aligned as one itinerary, one point of contact.
Biirdee · Preferred Partner
Madrid, Booked Properly
The right room at the Ritz or a suite off Puerta del Sol, a table at Deessa requested early, and Barcelona sequenced after the city: same rate as direct, with the perks each stay qualifies for.
