The Best Mandarin Oriental Hotels, Ranked by Guest Reviews

We scored the 100 most recent verified reviews at every Mandarin Oriental with enough of them. Hong Kong and Wangfujing lead; the Conservatorium trails.

By Biirdee Travel, Luxury Travel Concierge · Updated October 3, 2026

Which Mandarin Oriental is the best? Ask a concierge and you get history: Bangkok, Hong Kong, the Ritz in Madrid. Ask the people who stayed there this year and the answer is more surprising. So we scored their reviews and ranked every Mandarin Oriental with enough of them.

On 1 October 2026 we took the 100 most recent verified guest reviews at each of the 46 Mandarin Orientals we track on our booking platform (the Conservatorium in Amsterdam on 3 October 2026) and scored them ourselves: the mean out of 10, the share of guests scoring 9 or more, and the share scoring under 7. To be ranked, a hotel needs at least 50 reviews written since June 2024 and running into 2026. That leaves 31 hotels. The other 15 either have too few reviews or a window that reaches back years; we list them at the end, flagged. Rates are the lowest per night our booking engine (the one behind hotels.biirdee.com) charged for the same stays, priced the same day; taxes the hotel collects at checkout are extra.

Across the 31, Mandarin Oriental averages 9.21 out of 10 over 3,095 reviews, with 82% of guests scoring 9 or more and 6.9% under 7. For what each hotel costs month by month, see Mandarin Oriental prices.

The Ranking in Brief

  • Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong leads the brand at 9.86 out of 10, with 97% of recent guests scoring 9 or more. Mandarin Oriental Wangfujing, Beijing is a hair behind at 9.85, and not one of its 100 most recent guests scored it under 7.
  • Six of the top eight are in Asia. Jakarta (9.80) and Macau (9.78) take third and fourth, at $124–139 and $254–427 a night on our stays.
  • Mandarin Oriental Palace, Luzern (9.59, fifth) is the best-reviewed in Europe, and Boston (9.57, seventh) the best in the Americas.
  • Bangkok (9.58) ranks sixth and Tokyo, our desk's most-booked Mandarin Oriental, eighth (9.53).
  • At the bottom: the Conservatorium in Amsterdam (7.83, with 20% of recent guests under 7) and Mandarin Oriental Mayfair, London (8.52). Four of the five lowest are in Europe.

The Top 15 on Recent Guest Reviews

Ranked by the mean of each hotel's 100 most recent verified reviews on our booking platform (out of 10), then the share scoring 9 or more and the share scoring under 7. Only hotels with at least 50 reviews written since June 2024 qualify. Rates: lowest per night on 10–13 Nov 2026, 12–15 Mar 2027 and 15–18 Jul 2027, priced 1 October 2026.

The Top Eight, Hotel by Hotel

Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong (9.86). The best-reviewed Mandarin Oriental of all: 97% of its 100 most recent guests scored it 9 or more and 1% under 7. Food came up in 41% of written reviews and service in 71%, and both groups averaged close to a perfect 10. It is Forbes Five-Star for hotel and spa, holds One MICHELIN Key and is No.59 in The 50 Best Hotels 2026. On our stays it cost $696–988 a night, and $716–957 in every month we priced.

Mandarin Oriental Wangfujing, Beijing (9.85). The quiet overachiever: 94% of guests scored it 9 or more and none under 7. Service came up in 88% of written reviews (averaging 9.93), the view in 23% (9.75) and breakfast in 17% (9.83). Families wrote 35% of the reviews. It is Forbes Five-Star for hotel and spa and cost $806–840 a night on the stays where it had rooms (nothing was on sale for our November dates).

Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta (9.80). The best value in the brand by a distance: the cheapest Mandarin Oriental on all four of our stays ($124–139 a night) and third on guest reviews, with 95% scoring 9 or more. Service came up in 85% of written reviews (9.86) and breakfast in 22% (9.64). Families (38%) and business travelers (16%) write more of its reviews than across the brand as a whole (23% and 4%). Forbes lists it as Recommended.

Mandarin Oriental, Macau (9.78). Near-perfect marks across the board: service came up in 91% of written reviews (averaging 9.97), food in 34% and breakfast in 20% (both 10.0), and the butler service in 14% (10.0). Families wrote 38% of the reviews and couples 36%. Forbes rates the hotel Four-Star and the spa Five-Star, and it cost $254–427 a night on our stays.

Mandarin Oriental Palace, Luzern (9.59). Europe's best-reviewed Mandarin Oriental, and its view is the story: it came up in 49% of written reviews. Couples wrote 56% of them. Forbes Five-Star; $636–1,351 a night on our stays, and $661 in February against $1,190 in September on our monthly checks.

Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok (9.58). The flagship holds its place: 91% scored it 9 or more and only 1% under 7, the lowest share of unhappy guests among the seven Bangkok luxury hotels we scored. It holds Three MICHELIN Keys, is No.10 in The 50 Best Hotels 2026 (No.7 in 2025) and is Forbes Five-Star. The one soft spot is breakfast, which came up in 14% of written reviews averaging 7.67. Couples wrote 61% of its reviews. Full numbers in our Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok guide.

Mandarin Oriental, Boston (9.57). The best-reviewed Mandarin Oriental in the Americas, and the most business-heavy: business travelers wrote 32% of its reviews, against 4% brand-wide. Service came up in 85% of written reviews (9.67) and the spa in 16% (10.0). Forbes Five-Star hotel, Four-Star spa; $519–977 a night on our four stays, with US taxes of about $80–152 a night on top.

Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo (9.53). The view came up in 45% of written reviews, averaging 9.78, and service in 82% (9.73). Forbes Five-Star for hotel and spa. It is our desk's most-booked Mandarin Oriental (three trips in 2026, of three to seven nights), and in Tokyo our clients have chosen it over the Peninsula every time so far. It is also one of the most seasonal: $664 a night in August against $2,015 in January on our monthly checks.

Also Worth Knowing in the Top Half

Marrakech (9.51, ninth) sold only suites and villas on our stays ($950–1,568 a night); families wrote 40% of its reviews, and the butler service came up in 27% of written reviews with a perfect 10.0 average. Santiago and Doha tie on 9.50, at $238–376 and $244–269 a night on our three stays, and Muscat (9.45) shares the brand's second-lowest share of guests under 7 (1%) with Hong Kong and Bangkok, behind Wangfujing's 0%.

Hyde Park in London sits 19th (9.12), mid-table but with Three MICHELIN Keys; see our Hyde Park guide for how it compares with the 15 other London hotels we scored.

Honest Notes on the Lowest Scores

The Conservatorium in Amsterdam is the clear last: 7.83 across its 100 most recent reviews (December 2025 to August 2026), with only 44% of guests scoring 9 or more and 20% under 7. The written reviews say where it slips. Service came up in 83% of them, and those averaged 7.67; breakfast came up in 22% and averaged 6.25; upgrades in 14% (6.4). The spa is the bright spot, mentioned in 17% of reviews with a 9.83 average. This is a recent dip rather than a long record: its long-run score on our platform is 9.4 across 388 reviews. At $450–689 a night on our stays it is also one of the cheaper European Mandarin Orientals. We would book it for the spa and the price, with expectations set.

Mandarin Oriental Mayfair, London (8.52 across 95 reviews) was the dearest Mandarin Oriental on three of our four stays, when only suites were left ($2,895–3,614 a night), and the reviews do not yet match the price. Noise came up in 12% of written reviews and averaged 5.67, food in 21% (7.4) and service in 67% (7.91); the spa, again, scored well (9.62). Its sibling on the park, Hyde Park, scored 9.12.

The Swiss pair are a puzzle. Geneva (8.70) and the Savoy in Zurich (8.71) are both Forbes Five-Star, yet 15% and 13% of recent guests scored them under 7, and the Savoy had the lowest share of 9+ scores (66%) of any ranked Mandarin Oriental except the Conservatorium. At the Savoy, breakfast came up in 36% of written reviews (averaging 8.4) and noise in 7% (6.0). Geneva is at least one of the better-priced European Mandarin Orientals, at $686–818 a night on our four stays. Mandarin Oriental, New York (8.78) is the other surprise: Forbes Five-Star for hotel and spa, yet 15% of guests scored it under 7. The view is its strength (42% of written reviews, averaging 9.46); breakfast (18%, 8.18) and the hotel feeling dated (8%, 6.8) are where reviews fall.

Two of the unranked hotels are among the brand's most decorated this year. Mandarin Oriental Qianmen in Beijing was promoted to Three MICHELIN Keys in 2026 and is No.7 in The 50 Best Hotels 2026, but has only 10 reviews on our platform. The Landmark in Hong Kong gained Two MICHELIN Keys in 2026; its 50 reviews run from 2009 to 2023, too old to say much about the hotel today. Emirates Palace (9.56 on reviews to October 2025) would sit in the top ten on the numbers we have, and Sanya (8.21, with 19% under 7 across reviews going back to 2016) near the bottom.
