British Airways First Class (2026): Every US Route, First vs Club Suite, and the Miles That Book It

The Short Answer

British Airways serves 26 US airports from London Heathrow in our schedule data, more than any other airline in this guide library, and our first-party data shows BA First on eleven of them: Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Los Angeles, Miami, New York JFK, Phoenix, San Diego, San Francisco and Seattle. The desk library's A380 routes from the US are Boston, Dallas/Fort Worth, Los Angeles, Miami and San Francisco.

The cabin is mid-change. BA's A380s fly the old product until each aircraft's retrofit lands, and the first retrofit arrives in late 2026 with a new 12-suite first class, per the desk library. Away from the A380, BA's Heathrow business class is already Club Suite, with doors, on the 777s, 787-8s, 787-10s and A350s, with the 787-9s mid-conversion through 2027.

The price gap over business depends on route and direction. Our fare scans put BA First at $15,533 round trip from Los Angeles against $9,883 in business, but only $12,884 against $10,608 on London–Miami. And it books on miles more than most first classes: 12 of the 33 BA First tickets our desk issued were awards, 8 of them through Cathay Asia Miles.

What BA First Costs in Cash

Median published round-trip fares per person from our fare scans, nonstop, 2026, by the direction the trip starts. First and business come from different requests and travel dates, so read the multiple as a guide; negotiated fares typically land below published levels.

Direction Changes Everything

Read the Los Angeles rows together. A trip starting in Los Angeles scanned at $15,533 in first and $9,883 in business; a trip starting in London scanned at $18,749 in first and $4,827 in business, so the step up was 1.6x from one end and 3.9x from the other. On London–Miami, first scanned only 1.2x business. The dates differ, so these are not like-for-like quotes, but they show why the desk prices first and business on every request rather than assuming the gap.

Booking BA First With Miles

Avios is the home currency: Amex, Chase, Capital One, Bilt and Wells Fargo all transfer to BA at 1:1, and Citi reaches Avios through Qatar Privilege Club, per the desk's transfer notes. BA prices its own flights by distance band with peak and off-peak dates; the December 2025 devaluation added 8 to 14% plus higher cash co-pays, and long-haul premium awards carry surcharges of hundreds of dollars each way. The door our desk used most is Cathay Asia Miles: 8 of the 12 BA First awards we ticketed between November 2024 and September 2026. Its distance-based partner chart is predictable, but the desk library warns that partner surcharges on BA can exceed $1,800, so quote all-in. Citi, Capital One, Bilt and Wells Fargo transfer to Asia Miles at 1:1 and Amex at 5:4.

The scanners add two more doors. Through Atmos Rewards, BA First from Atlanta to London scanned at 82,500 points one-way on 6 dates (and 4 dates the other way) in September 2026; surcharges on BA can exceed $1,000 there, plus a $20 partner booking fee per person each way. Through Qantas Frequent Flyer, London–Los Angeles scanned at 155,200 points and London–Johannesburg at 155,200.

The Traps We Steer Clients Around

The surcharges. BA passes its carrier surcharges through on awards: the desk library puts them at about $300 to $700 or more one-way through AAdvantage in premium transatlantic cabins, over $1,000 through Atmos Rewards, and up to $1,800 or more through Asia Miles. The cheapest program in miles is not always the cheapest trip.

The A380 in transition. Until an aircraft is retrofitted, BA's A380 first class and business are the old products. The seat map tells you which aircraft you have: business entirely on the upper deck means the retrofit.

Heathrow connections. Same-terminal connections work at 60 minutes, but the desk plans 120 minutes between Terminals 3 and 5, and self-connections on separate tickets need three to four hours. The UK ETA is enforced, and airside transit is exempt only while bags are checked through.

Every route in these tables is checked against the schedule snapshot behind our route pages, so a route appears only if the airline flies it; distance and flight time are the same estimates those pages use. The evidence column says how we know first class is on it: "Desk library" is Biirdee's own carrier and aircraft reference, updated September 2026; "Ticketed by Biirdee" means our desk has issued first class tickets on that airline there between November 2024 and September 2026; "Award scan" means our award scanners have seen first class seats released on it; "Fare scan" means our fare scans have priced a first class fare on the nonstop.
