Capella Singapore: Rooms, Rates and Our Honest Review

Capella Singapore opened on Sentosa in 2009, built around two 1880s Tanah Merah colonial bungalows, former British military buildings that Norman Foster restored and folded into the resort. André Fu Studio refurbished the rooms, suites and villas in 2021. By the group's own count it has 112 rooms, suites and villas, and it adds three cascading outdoor pools, direct access to Palawan Beach and more than 900 artworks. It is the flagship of the Capella brand.

Our verdict: it is the best-reviewed of the four Singapore luxury hotels we scored, and by far the dearest. Its 100 most recent guests scored it 9.64 out of 10, with 93% scoring 9 or more, and on our test stays it cost $986–1,423 a night, against $379–797 at the Mandarin Oriental, the Four Seasons and the Ritz-Carlton. Families write more of its reviews than any other group (41%), and the reviews that mention children average a perfect 10.0. We would book it for a family stay or a slow few days at the start or end of a long trip; for a short city stay, the three hotels in our comparison below cost far less.

Capella Singapore by Our Numbers

On 3 October 2026 we priced Capella Singapore through our own booking engine (the one behind hotels.biirdee.com) on the same four stays we check at every hotel: 10–13 Nov 2026, 27–30 Dec 2026, 12–15 Mar 2027 and 15–18 Jul 2027, two adults, lowest rate per night. We also priced a two-night midweek stay (Tuesday to Thursday of the third week) in every month to October 2027, and we scored the hotel's 100 most recent verified guest reviews ourselves (the mean out of 10, the share scoring 9 or more and the share under 7). Rates are what the engine charged at booking; taxes the hotel collects at checkout are extra. Live rates change daily, so read these as the rates on 3 October 2026.

What the Scores Say

Service is the story: 86% of written reviews mention it, and those average 9.8, above the hotel's 9.64 overall. Food does even better, at 9.87 across the 37% of reviews that mention it; the headline restaurant is Fiamma, Mauro Colagreco's first Italian, opened in June 2022. The soft spots are small but consistent. The 20% of reviews that mention the pool average 8.94, and the third that mention breakfast average 9.41, both below the hotel's overall score; views (12%, 9.0) also trail.

Families are the core audience. They wrote 41% of recent reviews, more than couples (36%), and the 17% of written reviews that mention children average a perfect 10.0. Our read: Capella Singapore is a resort first and a city hotel second, at its best for a family stay or a slow stopover, and for those trips we think the premium is earned.

When to Go

Capella Singapore keeps a flat floor with three spikes. Nine of the twelve months sat between $986 and $1,017 a night; the exceptions were the third week of November ($1,788), February ($1,588) and April ($1,395). Our 10–13 November test stay, a week earlier, cost $986, so the November spike sits in particular weeks rather than the whole month: if your dates can move, move them a week and check again. December, January and March were the cheapest months on our calendar, all at $986, and the summer months cost barely more ($1,006–1,015).

Capella or the City Hotels?

Capella leads on the scores that matter most: 9.64 against 9.15–9.28 for the other three, and 93% of guests at 9 or more, against 78–85%. One number goes the other way: 5% of Capella's recent guests scored a stay under 7, slightly more than at the Mandarin Oriental (4%). It also costs far more. On our November and March stays Capella was $986 a night, nearly double the Mandarin Oriental ($543 and $514) and the Ritz-Carlton ($507), and more than two and a half times the Four Seasons ($379 and $388). Capella's cheapest rate included breakfast on those dates, which narrows the gap a little, but not much. On the 2026 awards Capella, the Mandarin Oriental and the Four Seasons each hold One MICHELIN Key; Capella is the only Forbes Five-Star of the four.

Which to book? Capella for a family trip or a resort break, where its pools, beach access and villas earn the price. For a city stay, the Mandarin Oriental is the next-best scored hotel on our list at about half the rate, and the Four Seasons is the value pick at $379–622 a night. Rooms, Dining and the Spa

The entry room on our engine is the Premier Garden King. Above it come the One Bedroom Garden Villa (the cheapest suite on three of our four stays, from $1,459 a night), the Sentosa Suite, the Constellation Sea View and, at the top, the two-bedroom villas, at $5,562–5,722 a night on our November, March and July stays. The villas have plunge pools, some balconies have private Jacuzzis over the South China Sea, and the estate also has Colonial Manors.

Fiamma, Mauro Colagreco's first Italian restaurant, opened on 15 June 2022 with 138 seats in a room designed by André Fu; Bob's Bar is the hotel's bar. The Auriga Spa has nine private treatment rooms and is a Forbes Five-Star spa for 2026, one of only two Five-Star spas in the Capella brand.
