Japan Airlines First Class (2026): The A350-1000 Routes, JAL First vs Business, and How to Book It
The newest first class suites flying to Japan, on a short list of Haneda routes: where they go, what our fare scans say first costs over business, and the two award charts that reach them.

The Short Answer
Japan Airlines' flagship is the A350-1000, with six first class suites and 54 business seats with doors, and the desk library's September 2026 list puts it on Tokyo Haneda to New York JFK, Dallas/Fort Worth, Los Angeles and Paris, with London joining from October 2026. From the US that is three first class cities: New York JFK, Dallas/Fort Worth and Los Angeles.
JAL's other first class, on the 777-300ER, is on its way out: the desk expects the last 777-300ERs to retire within 2026. Our desk ticketed JAL first class on Tokyo Haneda–San Francisco, a route outside the A350-1000 list, as recently as April 2026, so treat San Francisco as a check-the-aircraft booking. JAL serves nine US airports in our schedule data, but first class is a short list within it.
On price, our fare scans found JAL first at $28,189 round trip from Los Angeles and $27,547 from Dallas/Fort Worth at published fares, against $6,861 and $11,524 in JAL business on the same routes. On miles, AAdvantage prices JAL first from 80,000 one-way on a nonstop and Atmos Rewards from 80,000, per the desk library.

What JAL First Costs in Cash

Booking JAL First With Miles
Two US-reachable programs price JAL first from fixed levels, per the desk library (September 2026). AAdvantage charges from 80,000 miles one-way on a nonstop and 100,000 when the itinerary connects, after American repriced connecting JAL itineraries in July 2026; Citi ThankYou is the only bank that transfers to AAdvantage. Atmos Rewards (the merged Alaska and Hawaiian program) publishes JAL first from 80,000 one-way, adds a $20 partner booking fee per person per direction, holds nothing, and is fed only by Bilt among the major banks.
Both charts show "from" prices, and the desk's standing warning is that low bands are scarce: set alerts rather than promising the floor. From our own ledger: of the 6 JAL first class tickets our desk issued between November 2024 and September 2026, 5 were cash and 1 used AAdvantage miles.
The Traps We Steer Clients Around
The 777-300ER exit. JAL's last 777-300ERs retire within 2026, per the desk library; first class booked outside the A350-1000 routes late in the year can move to another aircraft, and the replacement may not carry first class. Check the aircraft at booking and again before travel.
The business class behind it. On the routes without the A350-1000, JAL's 787 "Sky Suite" business can still be 2-3-2, with middle seats. If first is not available on your date, business on the A350-1000 is the product to hold out for.
Haneda is the right Tokyo airport. The desk defaults premium clients to Haneda: 14 km from central Tokyo against about 60 for Narita, with the stronger flagship lounges, including JAL's sushi bar and teppanyaki.

Every route in these tables is checked against the schedule snapshot behind our route pages, so a route appears only if the airline flies it; distance and flight time are the same estimates those pages use. The evidence column says how we know first class is on it: "Desk library" is Biirdee's own carrier and aircraft reference, updated September 2026; "Ticketed by Biirdee" means our desk has issued first class tickets on that airline there between November 2024 and September 2026; "Award scan" means our award scanners have seen first class seats released on it; "Fare scan" means our fare scans have priced a first class fare on the nonstop.
