Every room, photo and amenity at One&Only Palmilla

Palmilla is the old guard of Los Cabos: built in 1956 as a 15-room hideaway for Don Abelardo Rodríguez, son of a former Mexican president, and now a One&Only of 174 rooms and suites on 55 acres. It sits on what Forbes Travel Guide calls one of "the few swimmable beaches in the region", it reopened in April 2015 after property-wide work following Hurricane Odile, and it is Forbes Five-Star for both the resort and the spa, with Two MICHELIN Keys in 2026.

Our verdict: it is the safest luxury booking in Los Cabos on our numbers. Recent guests score it 9.72 out of 10, the highest of the five luxury resorts we scored there and second in the One&Only brand only to Reethi Rah, and its cheapest rate included breakfast on every stay we checked. It is a family resort first: families wrote 62% of recent reviews. Couples are well served too (one of the two infinity pools is adults-only), but if you want an all-suite alternative, look at Las Ventanas as well. The one soft spot in the reviews is value.

Every One&Only is priced side by side on our One&Only prices page and ranked on the best One&Only resorts.

Palmilla in Brief

  • Lowest rates: $1,944 a night for 10–13 Nov 2026, $3,654 over New Year, $2,077 for 12–15 Mar 2027 and $1,054 for 15–18 Jul 2027, breakfast included every time.

One&Only Palmilla by Our Numbers

On 3 October 2026 we priced One&Only Palmilla through our own booking engine (the one behind hotels.biirdee.com) for two adults on four test stays and on a two-night midweek stay (Tuesday to Thursday of the third week) in every month to October 2027, and we scored its 100 most recent verified guest reviews ourselves. Rates are the lowest per night the engine charged at booking; taxes the resort collects at checkout are extra. Live rates change daily, so treat these as the rates on 3 October 2026.

Palmilla's year has a clear shape. January to March is the dear stretch ($1,871–2,109 a night), April to June eases off ($1,260–1,581), and July to September is the bargain ($815–911), with August and September the cheapest months at $815, less than 40% of February's rate. December is two markets: $1,150 for a midweek stay in the third week, but $3,654 a night over New Year.

Against the rivals, the summer is when Palmilla wins. From July to September it was cheaper than Las Ventanas, and in April and mid-December too; in the other seven months Las Ventanas was cheaper. Against Waldorf Astoria Pedregal, Palmilla was cheaper in nine of the ten months when both had rooms, December being the exception.

Our Read on the Comparison

Palmilla is the best-reviewed resort in Los Cabos on our numbers, a little ahead of Waldorf Astoria Pedregal (9.58, with the same 90% of guests at 9 or more but 6% under 7 against Palmilla's 2%). Las Ventanas (9.18) and Zadún (9.14) score lower on older reviews, and the Four Seasons at Cabo del Sol has only 25 recent reviews and no rooms on sale on any of our four stays. All three of Palmilla, Pedregal and Las Ventanas hold Two MICHELIN Keys in 2026, and Las Ventanas is number 25 in The 50 Best Hotels 2026.

On price, Pedregal is the dearest of the three on our November, March and July stays, and the gap widens once breakfast is in: Palmilla's cheapest breakfast-inclusive rate was $1,944 in November against $3,452 at Pedregal, and $1,054 in July against $1,907. Las Ventanas undercut Palmilla on our November, New Year and March stays ($1,545, $1,946 and $1,978), and its cheapest rate on every stay was a junior suite or residence, against Palmilla's oceanfront room; Palmilla's own junior suite cost $2,014 in November and $2,303 in March. We'd book Palmilla for a family trip or a first visit to Cabo, and Las Ventanas for a couple who want a suite; see our Las Ventanas guide for that side.

The Resort: Rooms, Restaurants and the Beach

All 174 rooms and suites run 600 to 2,100 sq ft, and every one has 24-hour butler service and whale-watching binoculars, per Forbes Travel Guide. On our dates the ladder ran from the Oceanfront Palmilla Room (King or Two Queen Beds) to the Ocean-view Junior Suite ($1,160–3,959 a night) and up to the oceanfront casita suites and two-bedroom family suites, topping out at $7,021 a night for the One Bedroom Casita Suite Oceanfront with Infinity Pool in March. The four-bedroom Villa Cortez sits above all of them.

Dining runs to SEARED, the steakhouse by Jean-Georges Vongerichten that opened with the 2015 reopening, Hoshi (Nikkei), Agua (Mexican, over the Sea of Cortez), the Pelican Beach Bar & Grill and Breeze, and late in 2025 the resort added the Palmilla Social Club with Lucille's Kitchen and Lucille's Café. The 20,000 sq ft One&Only Spa has private treatment villas and a temazcal steam bath; there are two infinity-edge pools, one adults-only, and the 27-hole Jack Nicklaus-designed Palmilla golf course.
