The Beverly Hills Hotel opened on 12 May 1912, before Beverly Hills was incorporated. Its pink exterior, which gave it the name the Pink Palace, its banana-leaf wallpaper and its 23 bungalows on 12 acres of gardens on Sunset Boulevard are its signature. It is owned by the Brunei Investment Agency and has been managed by Dorchester Collection since 1996; its sister in the collection is Hotel Bel-Air.
On our numbers it is one of the best-reviewed hotels in Los Angeles and the most expensive. Its 100 most recent guests scored it 9.42 out of 10, with 86% at 9 or more and 8% under 7, third of the seven Los Angeles hotels we scored; note that those reviews run from October 2021 to September 2025, an older window than most (†). And it was the priciest of the seven on all four of our test stays: $1,347–2,551 a night, room only, before about $198–375 a night in taxes collected at the hotel.
Our verdict: book it for the pool, the bungalows and the Polo Lounge, on a short stay in the spring, when its midweek rates are lowest. If you want the highest guest score in town for less, look at its sister Hotel Bel-Air, which scored a touch higher and cost less on all four of our stays, or the Maybourne Beverly Hills, which scored highest of the seven on more recent reviews.
The Beverly Hills Hotel in Brief
- 9.42 out of 10 across its 100 most recent reviews (October 2021 to September 2025, an older window): 86% of guests scored 9 or more and 8% under 7, third of the seven Los Angeles hotels we scored.
- The priciest of those seven on all four test stays: $1,448 (November), $1,347 (New Year), $2,551 (March, a Friday-to-Monday stay) and $1,906 (July) a night, room only.
- Midweek it is steadier: $1,236 (May) to $1,530 (July and August) on our calendar, a 24% spread, with January to June all at $1,236–1,312.
- Every rate our engine sold was room only, and taxes collected at the hotel added about $198–375 a night.
- The pool is the topic guests single out: it came up in 18% of written reviews, which averaged 9.56.
- Forbes Five-Star, Three MICHELIN Keys and No. 65 in The 50 Best Hotels in both 2025 and 2026.
The Beverly Hills Hotel by Our Numbers
On 1 October 2026 we priced the Beverly Hills Hotel through our own booking engine (the one behind hotels.biirdee.com) on the same four stays we check at every hotel, 10–13 Nov 2026, 27–30 Dec 2026, 12–15 Mar 2027 and 15–18 Jul 2027, two adults, lowest rate per night, plus a two-night midweek stay (Tuesday to Thursday of the third week) in every month of the coming year. Taxes the hotel collects at checkout are extra. We also scored its 100 most recent verified guest reviews ourselves: the mean out of 10, the share scoring 9 or more and the share under 7. Its reviews span October 2021 to September 2025, so we mark them † as an older window.

What the Scores Say
Service carries the reviews: 63% of written reviews mention it, and those averaged 9.49. The pool is the hotel's signature in the reviews too: 18% mention it, at an average of 9.56, against 4% of reviews at Hotel Bel-Air. Food came up in 23% at 9.04, a little under the hotel's 9.42. The soft spot is children: the 6% of reviews that mention them averaged 7.33, so families may do better at the Peninsula Beverly Hills (below).
Read the score with its window in mind. Our 100 most recent reviews here run from October 2021 to September 2025, so they are older than those for the Maybourne Beverly Hills (from September 2024) or the Peninsula Beverly Hills (from June 2024). Hotel Bel-Air's window is older still, from March 2020.
The Beverly Hills Hotel, Month by Month

Midweek, the Beverly Hills Hotel is one of the steadiest hotels in Dorchester Collection: $1,236 in May to $1,530 in July and August, a 24% spread. January to June all priced at $1,236–1,312, so the first half of the year is the value window; July and August are the dear months, and November and December sit in between ($1,427–1,468). Dates matter more than months: our 12–15 March test stay, Friday to Monday, cost $2,551 a night, nearly twice the $1,293 for a midweek night that month. Our engine had no rooms for October 2027.

The Beverly Hills Hotel or Its Rivals?
The Beverly Hills Hotel was the dearest of the seven Los Angeles hotels we track on every one of our four stays, though only just in November, when Hotel Bel-Air was $2 cheaper. The gap to the rest is wide: the Peninsula Beverly Hills cost $1,088–2,030 on our stays, the Beverly Wilshire $904–1,051 and Four Seasons at Beverly Hills $891–997. What it buys, on our numbers, is a top-three guest score, the pool and Three MICHELIN Keys, a level only Hotel Bel-Air matches in this group; the Maybourne Beverly Hills, the Peninsula Beverly Hills and the Beverly Wilshire hold Two.
Its closest rival on reviews is the Maybourne Beverly Hills, which scored 9.49 on more recent reviews (September 2024 to August 2026) and cost less on the two stays where it had rooms ($1,276 and $1,079). The Peninsula Beverly Hills is the family pick of the group on our numbers: families wrote 44% of its reviews, and those that mention children averaged 9.71. The Beverly Wilshire (9.24, only 4% of guests under 7) is the value pick, at well under $1,100 on every one of our stays.
Beverly Hills Hotel or Hotel Bel-Air?
Dorchester Collection's two Los Angeles hotels score almost the same with their guests and priced within $24 of each other on our November and New Year stays. Both hold Three MICHELIN Keys, both sit in The 50 Best Hotels 2026 (Bel-Air at No. 57, the Beverly Hills Hotel at No. 65), and both are scored on older review windows. The differences are in size, character and terms.

The Beverly Hills Hotel is the larger of the two, and its draws are the pool (mentioned in 18% of its reviews against 4% at Bel-Air), the bungalows and the Polo Lounge. Hotel Bel-Air is smaller, set around Swan Lake, with the collection's only Forbes Five-Star spa, seven treatment rooms and a mosaic steam room; its guests write about the food (18% of reviews, averaging 9.69), and fewer of them were unhappy (5% under 7 against 8%).
On price, Bel-Air cost less on all four of our test stays and its cheapest rate was refundable every time, but it is the dearer of the two midweek in July and August ($1,635 and $1,620 against $1,530). Our pick: the Beverly Hills Hotel for a first visit, a pool day and the Polo Lounge; Hotel Bel-Air for a smaller hotel, the spa, or a booking you may need to cancel.
Bungalows, the Polo Lounge and the Pool
The hotel has 210 guest rooms and suites plus 23 bungalows. On our engine the entry room is a Superior King, the bungalow rooms start at $1,820 a night (a Bungalow King Room at New Year), and the top categories were the Beverly Hills Bungalow Suite ($5,085–5,314) and the Beverly Hills Suite ($5,277 in July). The engine offered 14 to 19 room types on three of our stays, but only 6 for March.
The Polo Lounge, opened in 1941 by Hernando Courtright, serves from breakfast to dinner in its pink and green booths, with live piano jazz at lunch and dinner. The Fountain Coffee Room is a 1950s counter and soda fountain (first come, first served), and Bar Nineteen12 has a terrace over the pool and gardens. Forbes calls the pool area, with its palms, white umbrellas and private cabanas, world-famous, and the spa offers cabana treatments.
What Our Desk Sees
Our desk booked the Beverly Hills Hotel in September, at about $1,500 a night, a short stay of one to two nights like all our recent Dorchester Collection bookings. In Beverly Hills we also book the Maybourne Beverly Hills, in autumn and summer, at a median of about $1,900 a night with taxes, and the Beverly Wilshire at about $1,200 a night with taxes. For every Dorchester Collection hotel month by month, see our Dorchester Collection prices.
