Cheval Blanc Courchevel: Season, Rooms and How to Book

Cheval Blanc Courchevel is where the brand began. The first maison opened in 2006 at Le Jardin Alpin in Courchevel 1850, ski-in and ski-out on Les Trois Vallées, and it still opens only for the winter: the maison gives its season as December to April, and the 2026–27 season opens on 4 December 2026. It is small on purpose, with 36 keys including two private residences, Le Chalet and the Apartment. Yannick Alléno's Le 1947 holds three MICHELIN stars, the spa is Guerlain's, and the 2026 MICHELIN Keys gave the hotel the maximum of Three Keys.

It is also the clearest case of how Cheval Blanc sells. On 1 October 2026 our booking engine showed no rooms at Cheval Blanc Courchevel on any of our four test stays or in any month from November 2026 to October 2027, including the winter months the maison is open. Its two top-tier neighbors, Rosewood Courchevel Le Jardin Alpin and Aman Le Mélézin, showed the same blank calendar. Our reading: in Courchevel, the top rooms are sold through the hotels' own reservations teams and their travel partners, not as open online inventory. Below are the verified facts, what we measured, what the nearest hotels we could price in Megève cost, and how a room here is actually secured. The Rooms, Le Chalet and the Apartment

The maison's site and the MICHELIN Guide both count 36 keys; the factsheet itemizes 31 rooms and suites, starting at 40 m², two duplex suites and two private residences. Le Chalet has three bedrooms over 315 m², with its own spa treatment room and screening room, and the Apartment is a four-bedroom, 650 m² penthouse with a dedicated team and a private ski room. In-room dining, Carte Blanche, runs around the clock.

Le 1947 and the Rest of the Table

Le 1947 à Cheval Blanc is the headline. Yannick Alléno took over as head chef at Cheval Blanc Courchevel in 2011, Le 1947 won its third MICHELIN star in 2017, and it holds three stars in the 2026 guide; the maison bills it as Courchevel's only three-star restaurant. Renaud Dutel has been the maison's executive chef since July 2023. Le Grill Alpin, an Alpine brasserie in a Peter Marino setting, is listed in the MICHELIN Guide without a star, and the house also runs La Terrasse de Cheval Blanc, Le Bar, the Cigar Yurt and La Table de Partage, a private dining room for up to 16.

Spa, Families and the Art

The Cheval Blanc Spa by Guerlain has five single treatment rooms plus the Orchidée Salon for two, a pool with chromotherapy, an ice-water plunge pool, a Jacuzzi, a sauna, a hammam, and an outdoor Russian banya and hot tub. On the slopes, the Guerlain Winter Beehive does express treatments, and John Nollet runs a hair room service. Children have Le Carrousel and teenagers Le Paddock, and there is a Louis Vuitton store in the house. The art includes Bruno Peinado's mirrored horse, Xavier Veilhan's L'Ours, Jean-Michel Othoniel's Le Collier and Paola Pivi's L'Ours Rouge.

Cheval Blanc Courchevel by Our Numbers

On 1 October 2026 we priced the same stays at every hotel through our own booking engine (the one behind hotels.biirdee.com) and scored the 100 most recent verified guest reviews at each hotel ourselves. The test stays were 10–13 Nov 2026, 27–30 Dec 2026, 12–15 Mar 2027 and 15–18 Jul 2027, and a 12-month calendar priced the same two-night midweek stay (Tuesday to Thursday of the third week) in every month from November 2026 to October 2027. Rates are the lowest per night the engine charges at booking; taxes the hotel collects at checkout are extra, and live rates change daily, so these are the rates of 1 October 2026.

Cheval Blanc Courchevel returned nothing: no rooms on any test stay and none in any of the 12 months. Part of that is the season, since the maison is closed from spring until December, but the winter tells the real story: our December, January, February and March checks, and the 27–30 December and 12–15 March stays, all fall inside its season and still showed nothing to book. Rosewood Courchevel Le Jardin Alpin and Aman Le Mélézin were blank in every month too, and none of the three has a single review on our platform, so this is a Courchevel pattern rather than a Cheval Blanc quirk.

One disclosure: our agents have priced Cheval Blanc only twice, and our booking records (stays from November 2024 to April 2027) show no Cheval Blanc bookings, so this page reports engine checks and published facts, not booking anecdotes.

What the Numbers Say

Only one hotel in our Alpine set released any rooms, and only on three of its sixteen checks: Four Seasons Megève, which priced our July test stay at $1,509 a night (breakfast included; $1,513 refundable) and two calendar months, January 2027 at $4,069 and August 2027 at $1,510. The January figure is the useful one for a skier: that is what a midweek winter night at a Three-Key Alpine hotel cost on our engine, against $1,510 for the same stay in August. Guests rate the hotel highly, 9.36 out of 10 across its 67 most recent reviews with 85% scoring 9 or more, though that window reaches back to 2019. Les Chalets du Mont d'Arbois, Four Seasons' other Megève address, scored 8.79 with 13% of reviews under 7 (64th of the 72 Four Seasons hotels we could rank) and showed no rooms in any month.

What this means for you: there is no open rate to benchmark Cheval Blanc Courchevel against, so the price comes from the maison itself, on request. Our view: treat Four Seasons Megève's January rate as a reference point for top-tier Alpine winter pricing, and the absence of any Courchevel rate on our engine as a signal to ask early rather than wait for something to appear online.

How a Room Here Is Actually Secured

Because the maison does not release rooms to open booking engines (on our checks, not once in twelve months), a stay starts with a request. The dates, the room type (a room or suite, a duplex suite, Le Chalet or the Apartment) and the party size go to the maison's reservations team, directly or through a travel advisor, and the maison replies with what it can confirm, its rate and its terms. When to Go and When to Book

The season sets the calendar: Cheval Blanc Courchevel opens on 4 December 2026, runs into April and is closed the rest of the year. Within the season, the festive weeks are the scarcest; for our 27–30 December stay, none of the three Courchevel hotels we track had a room on our engine. Our advice: ask for festive dates as soon as you know them, and keep January to March dates flexible.
