Four Seasons Bora Bora: Villas, Rates and Our Honest Review

Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora sits on a private motu facing Mount Otemanu and Mount Pahia, and almost everything it sells is over the water: 108 of its 115 keys are overwater bungalows, the other seven beachfront villas. It opened in September 2008 and finished a resort-wide renovation in late 2020. On our numbers it scores 9.47 out of 10 across its 100 most recent verified reviews, with 85% of guests at 9 or more, second of the four Bora Bora resorts we scored and a hair behind the St. Regis.

Our verdict: this is the Bora Bora resort we would book for a couple who want the overwater suite to be the whole point, and for New Year it was the better buy than the St. Regis on our checks, at $3,777 a night (breakfast included) against $6,581. Couples wrote 61% of its recent reviews. Go in with eyes open on two things. It is expensive in every month (its cheapest month on our calendar was still $1,698 a night), and the soft spots in its reviews are the food and what some guests call dated, not the setting or the staff.

Four Seasons Bora Bora by Our Numbers

On 1 October 2026 we priced the same stays at Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora through our own booking engine (the one behind hotels.biirdee.com): 10–13 Nov 2026, 27–30 Dec 2026, 12–15 Mar 2027 and 15–18 Jul 2027, two adults, plus a two-night midweek stay (Tuesday to Thursday of the third week) in every month from November 2026 to October 2027. Rival rates for the St. Regis, the Conrad and the InterContinental Thalasso were pulled on the same engine on 3 October 2026. Rates are the lowest per night the engine charged at booking; taxes the hotel collects at checkout are extra. We scored the 100 most recent verified guest reviews at each resort ourselves; at the Four Seasons they run from March 2024 to January 2026, an older window than we like (marked †), so read its score as slightly less current than the St. Regis's.

When to Go

The calendar splits the year in two. From December to April the resort priced between $1,698 and $2,319 a night on our midweek checks, with January ($1,698) and February ($1,703) the cheapest months. From May to November it sat between $2,896 and $4,617, with May the dearest month by a distance. That is a spread of 172% from the cheapest month to the priciest, so the month you pick matters as much as the room you pick.

The holidays are the exception inside the cheap half of the year. Our 27–30 Dec 2026 stay priced at $3,777 a night, against $2,197 for a midweek stay in the third week of December, and only suites were left. October 2027 showed no rooms for the third-week dates we checked; read that as "ask us", not as closed.

Four Seasons or the St. Regis?

On reviews it is close to a dead heat: the St. Regis scores 9.51 on fresher reviews (June 2025 to August 2026) against the Four Seasons' 9.47 on older ones, and Forbes rates the St. Regis Four-Star against Recommended for the Four Seasons. On price the Four Seasons wins three of our four stays, and wins big where it matters most to our clients: over New Year it was $3,777 a night against $6,581 at the St. Regis. It was also cheaper in November ($3,585 against $4,101) and July ($2,862 against $3,338); the St. Regis was cheaper only in March ($2,189 against $2,361). Note that the Four Seasons figures already include breakfast for two; we did not check whether the St. Regis rates did.

The Conrad Bora Bora Nui was the cheapest resort on all four dates, from $1,574 to $2,688 a night, but scored 8.94 with 13% of guests under 7, more than double the Four Seasons' share. The InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa scored a respectable 9.34 yet had nothing bookable on our engine for any of the four stays. Rooms, Dining and the Spa

The resort has 115 keys: 108 overwater bungalows and seven beachfront villas. The late-2020 renovation added seven two- and three-bedroom beachfront Villa Estates, put plunge pools on six more overwater bungalow suites (27 overwater units now have a pool), refreshed the bungalow interiors and added solar panels to the thatched roofs. On our engine the cheapest rate was always a one-bedroom suite: Lagoon View in November, an overwater suite with a beach view on the other three stays. The top category on sale was $3,741 in November (a one-bedroom Beach View suite), $5,580 over New Year (a one-bedroom Lagoon View overwater bungalow suite with plunge pool), $10,516 in March (the two-bedroom Poereva suite with plunge pool) and $9,942 in July (a two-bedroom Lagoon View suite with plunge pool).

Dining is spread across Tere Nui (breakfast and themed dinners), Arii Moana (Mediterranean), Fare Hoa Beach Bar and Restaurant (grill), Vaimiti (Asian) and Bella Vita at Tere Nui (Italian). The spa has a 22-metre ceiling, seven indoor treatment rooms and two open-air pavilions, and the Kids for All Seasons club runs paddleboarding and outrigger canoeing. Here is the honest part of the reviews: food came up in 25% of written reviews, and those averaged 8.21; breakfast in 12%, averaging 7.67; and 7% called something dated, averaging 6.2, all well under the resort's 9.47 overall. The view (19% of reviews, 9.71) and the service (64%, 9.27) carry the score.

A Nine-Night New Year: What Our Desk Booked

Our desk has booked Four Seasons Bora Bora for nine nights over New Year, more than double our average Four Seasons stay of 4.1 nights. Holiday and resort stays like this are the ones our clients book months ahead (our other Four Seasons holiday bookings were made about four to eight months out), and the New Year numbers show why: on our 27–30 Dec 2026 stay only suites were left, at $3,777 a night non-refundable or $4,099 with free cancellation, against $2,197 for a midweek stay earlier in December. Book the dates as soon as they are firm, and if you want a plunge-pool bungalow over the holidays, ask early: the top category we saw for New Year was the one-bedroom Lagoon View overwater bungalow suite with plunge pool at $5,580 a night.
