Four Seasons Maldives: Kuda Huraa vs Landaa Giraavaru

Four Seasons has two resorts in the Maldives that you book like hotels: Kuda Huraa in North Malé Atoll, open since 1998, and Landaa Giraavaru in the Baa Atoll UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, open since 2006. Alongside them sit Voavah, a private island taken by one group at a time, and Four Seasons has also run a catamaran, the Four Seasons Explorer. This page compares the two resorts on our own numbers and sets them against every other Maldives resort we track.

Our verdict: Kuda Huraa is the value pick of the Maldives on our checks, by a wide margin. It was the cheapest resort on our Maldives board on three of our four test stays, from $875 a night in July with breakfast included, and the only one with anything bookable over New Year. Its guest score is the softest of the four Maldives resorts we could score (9.28 out of 10 on an older review window), so you are trading a little polish for a lot of price. Landaa Giraavaru is the one for marine life and longer, slower stays; it costs more, had only suites left on our dates, and has too few recent reviews (11) for us to score it fairly.

How We Compared Them

On 1 October 2026 we priced the same stays at both resorts through our own booking engine (the one behind hotels.biirdee.com): 10–13 Nov 2026, 27–30 Dec 2026, 12–15 Mar 2027 and 15–18 Jul 2027, two adults, plus a two-night midweek stay (Tuesday to Thursday of the third week) in every month from November 2026 to October 2027. Rates are the lowest per night the engine charged at booking; taxes the resort collects at checkout are extra. We scored the 100 most recent verified guest reviews at each resort ourselves (the mean out of 10, the share scoring 9 or more and the share under 7); † marks a window that starts before June 2024. Rival rates for One&Only Reethi Rah and Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi were pulled on 3 October 2026; the other rivals on 1 October 2026.

When to Go

Both resorts run the same two-speed calendar. From May to September they were at their cheapest and almost flat: Kuda Huraa at $875–890 a night and Landaa at $1,968 every month. From January to April they were at their dearest, peaking in January ($1,932 at Kuda Huraa, $3,073 at Landaa), with November, December and October in between. The swing is wider at Kuda Huraa (121% from July to January) than at Landaa (56% from August to January).

Christmas and New Year are a separate market. For 27–30 Dec 2026 Landaa had nothing bookable on our engine and Kuda Huraa had only suites left, from $4,732 a night for a Sunrise Water Villa, non-refundable: more than three times its rate for a midweek stay earlier in December ($1,393). If the Maldives over the holidays is the plan, decide early; our Four Seasons holiday bookings are typically made months ahead.

Kuda Huraa: The Value Four Seasons

Kuda Huraa is the older of the two resorts and the one Four Seasons has been rebuilding: what Four Seasons described in July 2025 as the final stage of its regeneration turned the former Beach Bungalows into Beach Villas with Pool (70 square metres inside, 285 outside, with a 36-square-metre pool), and a Three-Bedroom Kuda Estate now takes multigenerational groups. The spa sits on its own island (ŪRJĀ Naturopathy Island, seven treatment rooms) with a nightly open-air Night Spa Ritual; the surf programme by Tropicsurf (ages six and up) reaches six surf breaks; and there is a Marine Discovery Centre with turtle rehabilitation and the Kuda Koamas kids' club. Dining runs across Baraabaru (Indian), Reef Club (Italian), Café Huraa, Kandu Grill and the Poolside Bar.

On our numbers it scores 9.28 out of 10 across its 100 most recent reviews, which reach back to July 2023 (†), with 82% at 9 or more and 5% under 7. Service came up in 75% of written reviews (average 9.36); the softer topic was kids (11%, 8.2). On price it is hard to argue with: every cheapest rate on our four stays included breakfast, three of the four were refundable, and July's $875 for a garden pavilion with pool was the lowest rate of any Maldives resort we track on any of our four test stays.

Landaa Giraavaru: Mantas and Long Stays

Landaa Giraavaru sits in the Baa Atoll UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and is built around the water: it has run a manta conservation programme since 2005, with a resident Manta Trust team, and Four Seasons reports that the 2025 season logged 4,265 reef manta sightings and 28 whale sharks over 143 research days. Teenagers can join a Trainee Marine Biologist programme (ages 13 to 18), younger children the Kuda Velaa kids' club, and a Four-Bedroom Landaa Estate takes large families. The AyurMa spa runs one- to four-week Ayurvedic programmes with a Vedic Wisdom Centre and herbal garden. Dining is Blu (Italian), Al Barakat (Arabian), Café Landaa, Fuego Grill, Five Degrees North and the Poolside Bar.

Treat its guest score with caution. Our platform holds only 11 reviews for Landaa, written between February 2017 and April 2025: they average 9.82, but that is too few and too old to rank against resorts with 100 recent reviews, so we do not. On price it had only suites left on our dates (the cheapest was the Premier Oceanfront Bungalow with Pool every time), at $1,943 in November and $1,968 in July with half board, and $3,044 in March with breakfast; for New Year it had nothing on our engine. The resort also collected the largest taxes at checkout of the two, about $519–799 a night.

Voavah and the Four Seasons Explorer

Four Seasons Private Island Maldives at Voavah opened in 2016, also inside the Baa Atoll UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and 40 minutes by seaplane from Malé. It is taken by one party at a time: up to 22 guests in seven bedrooms (a three-bedroom Beach Villa, a two-bedroom Water Villa and two Mezzanine Suites), with its own 19-metre yacht, Voavah Summer, a PADI 5-Star dive centre, an overwater spa and a Beach House with a gym and a kitchen for a private chef. We have no rates or reviews for it in our data, so it is not in the tables below; ask us for a quote.

Four Seasons has also run the Four Seasons Explorer, a 39-metre catamaran with 11 cabins, on three-, four- and seven-night cruises between the two resorts and through the Baa, Rasdhoo and Ari atolls. We could not confirm its 2026 sailings in the Maldives (Four Seasons' Maldives press page for it now points to the Explorer in Palau), so check with us before planning around it.

Our Read on the Maldives Board

The board splits cleanly into price and polish. On reviews, the leaders are elsewhere: One&Only Reethi Rah scores 9.88 on 100 reviews written since June 2025, and the Ritz-Carlton Fari Islands (on only 35 reviews) and Waldorf Astoria Ithaafushi follow at 9.69 and 9.65, both on older windows. Kuda Huraa's 9.28 is fourth of the four we could score, and its 5% under 7 is the highest share of unhappy guests among them. On price, Kuda Huraa is in a different bracket. In July it was $875 a night against Landaa's $1,968 and $2,537 at JOALI, the cheapest of the other brands; in November $1,393 against Landaa's $1,943 and the Ritz-Carlton's $2,926; in March $1,693, again the lowest on the board. And over New Year it was the only resort of the eight with anything bookable on our engine.
