The building at 19 Avenue Kléber has had several lives. It opened in 1908 as the Hôtel Majestic, housed UNESCO through the post-war years, and hosted the negotiations that produced the 1973 Paris Peace Accords. The Peninsula spent four years and a reported €430 million turning it back into a hotel, and when it opened in 2014 it became the brand's first European property, and the one that made the rest of the European expansion credible.
The restoration is the story. Craftsmen re-cut the stone, regilded the mouldings and rebuilt ceilings that had been boarded over for decades, then threaded the brand's technology invisibly through the result. It holds the French state's Palace distinction, and for a stay in Paris it competes directly with the Ritz, the Bristol and the Crillon.
Rooms, Rates and the Suites With Terraces
There are around 200 rooms: a small number for a building this size, because the conversion prioritised space. Entry categories are large by Paris standards, with the marble bathrooms, valet boxes and bedside panels the brand installs everywhere, plus a nail-drying station that guests either find delightful or ignore entirely.
The specialty suites are the reason people come back: several carry private rooftop terraces with unobstructed Eiffel Tower views, and a few have their own outdoor dining space and garden. They are among the most expensive rooms in the city and, for a milestone trip, among the few that genuinely justify it. On our October 2026 checks, entry rooms started at $1,615 a night (November) and climbed steeply through the seasons, to $2,654 in June.

L'Oiseau Blanc and the Rooftop
L'Oiseau Blanc takes its name from the biplane in which Nungesser and Coli attempted the first Paris–New York crossing in 1927 and vanished over the Atlantic; a replica hangs off the roof terrace. The restaurant looks straight down Avenue Kléber to the Eiffel Tower, and the terrace is the seat to request, at dusk, with the hourly sparkle, it is the most reliably spectacular table in Paris.
LiLi handles the Cantonese cooking the brand carries as a signature, in a room styled like a Chinese opera house. Le Lobby serves the afternoon tea under the restored glass roof, and the spa and pool occupy the basement levels. The Arc de Triomphe is a five-minute walk; Avenue Montaigne and the Trocadéro are barely further.

The Peninsula Paris, Month by Month
Lowest rate per night for the same two-night midweek stay (Tuesday to Thursday of the third week) in each month, priced 1 October 2026. "No rooms" means nothing was bookable on our engine for those dates. October 2027 is left out: only four of the twelve Peninsulas had rooms on sale for it, this one among them.

Our Read on the Numbers
The Peninsula Paris is the most expensive Peninsula on our numbers. Its lowest rate ran $1,796–2,337 a night across our four stays, and in our monthly checks it was the priciest of the twelve in every month but December (when New York led), from $1,615 in November to $2,654 in June. The top of the house goes further: the Rooftop Suite with Garden view was $10,542 a night on our July stay, the highest-priced room we found at any Peninsula. Even so, it undercut Hotel de Crillon and Four Seasons Hotel George V on all four of our stays.
On reviews the picture is older. Its 100 most recent reviews run from 2018 to 2025 (hence the †), and on them it averaged 9.60 out of 10, first of the seven luxury hotels we scored in Paris, just ahead of Hotel de Crillon (9.54, also on older reviews). Reviews mentioning the food averaged 9.65, and every review that mentioned the spa or the view scored it 10. Two practical notes: on every one of our stays the lowest price came with free cancellation, and the taxes the hotel collects at checkout swing with the rate, from about $36 a night on two stays to about $239–257 on the other two.

Yes, from L'Oiseau Blanc's rooftop terrace, from La Terrasse Kléber, and from several specialty suites with private roof terraces. Standard rooms mostly look onto Avenue Kléber and the courtyard, so confirm the category if the view is the point.
Is The Peninsula Paris a Palace hotel?
Yes. It holds the French state's Palace distinction, the tier above five stars awarded to a small number of hotels nationwide, alongside the Ritz, the Bristol, the Crillon and Le Meurice.
How much does The Peninsula Paris cost?
On our 1 October 2026 checks the lowest rate was $1,796 a night for 10–13 Nov 2026, $2,337 for 27–30 Dec 2026, $2,146 for 12–15 Mar 2027 and $2,235 for 15–18 Jul 2027, the highest of the twelve Peninsulas in March and July, with about $36–257 a night in taxes collected at checkout. Junior suites started at $2,474–2,844, and terrace suites run into the many thousands (the Rooftop Suite was $10,542 a night in July) and book months ahead.
When is The Peninsula Paris cheapest?
November, in our monthly checks: $1,615 a night for a two-night midweek stay, with December ($1,837) next and then February and March ($1,963). June was the priciest month at $2,654, and the first October 2027 rates on sale were higher still, at $3,027.
Is breakfast included at The Peninsula Paris?
Only on our March stay, when the cheapest rate ($2,146) included it. On the same room, breakfast for two added $123 a night in November and $71 over New Year. In July the cheapest breakfast rate ($2,384) sat close to the cheapest room-only rate ($2,235), so compare the two before you book.
Which arrondissement is it in?
The 16th, at the top of Avenue Kléber near the Arc de Triomphe: quieter and more residential than the 1st or 8th, with the Trocadéro, Avenue Montaigne and the Champs-Élysées all within a short walk.
