The Peninsula spent more than three decades looking for a London site it considered worthy, and finally built at 1 Grosvenor Place: the corner of Hyde Park Corner, facing Wellington Arch, with Buckingham Palace gardens behind and Hyde Park across the road. It opened in September 2023 with roughly 190 rooms and 25 branded residences, and it immediately reset the top of the London market.
Peter Marino did the interiors, which means the art programme is real rather than decorative and the materials are absurd in the best way. The building is new but deliberately unshowy from the street; the drama is saved for the roof.
Rooms, Rates and What the Premium Buys
Rooms are among the largest in London: entry categories start around 50 square metres, which in this city is a suite almost anywhere else. Marino's interiors run to lacquer, bronze and commissioned art, and the brand's technology is at its most developed here: bedside panels, the valet box, and a level of in-room control that took the company decades to iterate toward.
On our October 2026 checks, rates opened at $1,251–1,772 a night across four test stays and go up quickly; park-view and Wellington Arch-facing categories carry the premium and are worth it if you are only staying two or three nights. The hotel also fields a Rolls-Royce Phantom Extended Series fleet in Peninsula green, plus a 1930s Phantom II kept for occasions.

Brooklands, Canton Blue and Afternoon Tea
Brooklands sits on the roof and is themed around British motor racing and aviation; a Concorde fuselage model runs the length of the room, and the terrace looks over Hyde Park Corner toward the park. Claude Bosi runs the kitchen and it has been among London's most decorated new openings since launch. Book it well ahead; it is not a walk-in.
Canton Blue takes the brand's Cantonese signature and stages it around the story of a nineteenth-century trading ship, and The Lobby serves an afternoon tea that has quickly become one of the harder London reservations. The spa, pool and wellness floors are unusually generous for a new-build in central London, where such space is normally the first thing value-engineered away.

Lowest rate per night for the same two-night midweek stay (Tuesday to Thursday of the third week) in each month, priced 1 October 2026. "No rooms" means nothing was bookable on our engine for those dates. October 2027 is left out: only four of the twelve Peninsulas had rooms on sale for it, this one among them.

Our Read on the Numbers
The Peninsula London is one of the brand's best hotels on our numbers: 9.43 out of 10 from recent guests, third of the nine Peninsulas we could rank and third of the 14 luxury hotels we scored in London, behind only the Connaught (9.79) and the Cadogan (9.48). In September 2026 MICHELIN gave it Three Keys, the only Peninsula with the top distinction. The weak spot is the table: food came up in 23% of written reviews and breakfast in 16%, and those reviews averaged 7.85 and 7.11, far below the hotel's 9.43. Reviews mentioning the spa (14%) and the pool (7%) all scored a perfect 10.
It is expensive, though Paris is pricier: $1,251–1,772 a night across our four stays. Watch the taxes, too: on three of the four, the engine's lowest rate left about $236–316 a night to pay at the hotel, so compare all-in prices. February is the month for value ($1,042 in our monthly checks) and May the priciest ($1,730). If the numbers alone decide, two neighbors scored about as well and cost less on all four of our stays: the Cadogan (9.48) and the Lanesborough (9.42). How much does The Peninsula London cost?
On our 1 October 2026 checks the lowest rate was $1,675 a night for 10–13 Nov 2026, $1,772 for 27–30 Dec 2026, $1,251 for 12–15 Mar 2027 and $1,514 for 15–18 Jul 2027, among the three most expensive Peninsulas on every stay (Paris is the priciest). On three of those stays the hotel also collected about $236–316 a night in taxes at checkout. Junior suites started at $2,403–3,075, and park-facing categories and suites climb well beyond.
When is The Peninsula London cheapest?
February, in our monthly checks: $1,042 a night for a two-night midweek stay, with March ($1,142) next. May was the priciest month at $1,730 and June followed at $1,630; the first October 2027 rates on sale were $2,595.
Is breakfast included at The Peninsula London?
Not in the cheapest rate on any of our stays. On the same room, breakfast for two added $112 a night (and $132 on our November stay), so it is worth booking with breakfast attached as a benefit. Guests were lukewarm about it: reviews that mention breakfast averaged 7.11 out of 10.
Is The Peninsula London worth it over Claridge's or the Connaught?
For space and newness, yes; entry rooms are substantially larger and the wellness floors are in a different league. On our scoring of recent reviews it also beat Claridge's (9.43 against 9.21), though the Connaught (9.79) was the best-reviewed of the 14 London luxury hotels we scored. The Mayfair grande dames win on patina and neighbourhood texture. Hyde Park Corner is the better address for the park; Mayfair is the better one for walking to dinner.
What is Brooklands?
The rooftop restaurant, run by Claude Bosi, themed on British motor racing and aviation with a Concorde model along the room and a terrace over Hyde Park Corner. Reserve well in advance; it is one of the city's hardest tables.

1 Grosvenor Place, on Hyde Park Corner, at the meeting point of Belgravia, Mayfair and Knightsbridge. Hyde Park is across the road, Buckingham Palace gardens behind, and Harrods and Sloane Street a short walk south.
