Majestic Hotel & Spa

Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona

Eixample, Passeig de Gràcia, Barcelona, Spain

A former bank on Passeig de Gràcia, a three-minute walk from Casa Batlló: 120 rooms and suites by Patricia Urquiola, the Michelin-starred Moments, cocktails at Bankers Bar under the old safe-deposit boxes, and a spa with an indoor pool. Terrat, the hedge-lined roof terrace, adds a small dipping pool from April to October. Forbes Five-Star with Two MICHELIN Keys, it is our first pick for a couple, and with a business center and Passeig de Gràcia station, where the airport train stops, a short walk away, an easy base for a working trip.

El Palace Barcelona

Eixample, Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, Barcelona, Spain

The 1919 grande dame, born as the Ritz, on the Gran Via two blocks from Passeig de Gràcia: 120 rooms and suites, Art Suites named for Dalí, Miró and César Ritz with butler service, Rafa Zafra's Amar for dinner and the Mayan-inspired spa. The Rooftop Garden, one of the largest roof terraces in the city, has a pool for hotel guests and the Sagrada Família on the skyline: our pick for a couple who want old Barcelona. Three-bedroom family suites for seven, two-bedroom family rooms and supervised childcare make it our family pick in the center. LHW member.

Hotel Arts Barcelona

Vila Olímpica, Carrer de la Marina, Barcelona, Spain

The 44-story glass tower on the beach beside the Olympic Port, run by Ritz-Carlton since it opened in 1994: 432 rooms and suites, all renovated, with the sea or the city from every side, Paco Pérez's two-Michelin-star Enoteca (temporarily closed as of October 2026), a Ritz-Carlton Club Lounge, a business center and meeting rooms. Outside, a family pool and the Arts Kids program for children, and the adults-only Gehry Pool, an infinity pool facing Frank Gehry's fish sculpture. Our family and business pick; the last phase of renovation partly closes common areas through June 2027, so we check what is open for your dates. One MICHELIN Key; Forbes Four-Star.

Hotel Casa Fuster

Gràcia, Barcelona, Spain

Lluís Domènech i Montaner's 1908 modernisme building at the top of Passeig de Gràcia, where the Eixample meets Gràcia: 105 rooms and suites, Aleia's two Michelin stars on the first floor, jazz at the Café Vienés, and a rooftop terrace with an outdoor pool, open May to September, and views across the city. Smaller than the boulevard's big hotels and with a jazz bar where one guest fits right in, it is our pick for a traveler on their own; for a couple, dinner at Aleia and a night on the roof. METT Barcelona

Tibidabo, Carretera de Vallvidrera al Tibidabo, Barcelona, Spain

The former Gran Hotel La Florida, high on Tibidabo hill, fully renovated and reopened as METT in September 2025: 70 rooms, many looking over the city to the Mediterranean, a spa with a stainless steel pool, hot tub and sauna, two bars, and a suite with its own private pool. It is far from the center by design, so every evening out starts with a car; our pick for a couple who want the view and the quiet.
