The Peninsula Manila has been the country's social headquarters since it opened in 1976 at the corner of Ayala and Makati Avenues. Its lobby (a vast, sunlit atrium under a sculpted sunburst ceiling, ringed by a mezzanine and never empty) functions as the city's de facto meeting room. Deals, weddings, political manoeuvring and Sunday brunch all happen in the same space, which is a thing very few hotels anywhere still manage.
It is also the largest hotel in the portfolio at roughly 470 rooms, and the least expensive. For travellers curious about what the brand does, Manila is the cheapest honest answer.
Rooms and the Makati Position
Rooms are generous and steadily refreshed, with the brand's technology and service standards intact: the same valet boxes, the same page boys, the same laundry turned around overnight. Categories run from Superior through to the specialty suites, and because the building is large the upgrade ladder here is unusually easy to climb with advisor benefits attached.
Makati is the central business district, which makes this a working hotel as much as a leisure one: Ayala Avenue's offices are at the door, Greenbelt and Glorietta shopping are a covered walk away, and the airport is roughly 30 to 45 minutes depending on Manila traffic, which is its own kind of adventure.

The Lobby, Brunch and What to Order
The Lobby serves the brand's afternoon tea and, more importantly here, the halo-halo that Manila regards as the benchmark version: shaved ice, ube, leche flan, the lot. Sunday brunch is a genuine institution and books out; ask the concierge to hold a table when you confirm the room, not after you arrive.
Old Manila handles the special-occasion dinner and Spices covers the pan-Asian register. Beyond the hotel, Intramuros and the old walled city make the obvious half-day, and Makati's restaurant scene has become one of the more interesting in Southeast Asia over the past few years.

Lowest rate per night for the same two-night midweek stay (Tuesday to Thursday of the third week) in each month, priced 1 October 2026. "No rooms" means nothing was bookable on our engine for those dates. October 2027 is left out: only four of the twelve Peninsulas had rooms on sale for it, and this was not one of them.

Our Read on the Numbers
The Peninsula Manila is the cheapest way into the brand by a distance. When it had rooms, it was the lowest-priced Peninsula on every one of our stays ($236–292 a night), and the cheapest suite cost $343–522. Our monthly checks sat at $261–266 from January to September; only December ran higher ($399), and our 10–13 Nov stay had nothing on sale.
Guests are a little less effusive than at the other Peninsulas: 9.00 out of 10, eighth of the nine we could rank, with 81% scoring it 9 or more. Breakfast came up in 40% of written reviews, more than at any other Peninsula, and those averaged 8.32; the 10% that mentioned the hotel feeling dated averaged 6.2. The pool is the bright spot (23% of reviews, averaging 9.73), and solo travelers wrote a third of the reviews (33%), the highest share at any Peninsula with recent reviews.

Is The Peninsula Manila the cheapest Peninsula?
Yes. On our 1 October 2026 checks it was the lowest-priced of the twelve on every stay where it had rooms: $261 a night for 27–30 Dec 2026, $292 for 12–15 Mar 2027 and $236 for 15–18 Jul 2027 (nothing was on sale for 10–13 Nov 2026). That is under half of what The Peninsula Hong Kong charged on the same dates and a fraction of London or Paris, for the same service culture and brand standards.
When is The Peninsula Manila cheapest?
Almost any time but December. Our monthly checks found $261 a night for a two-night midweek stay in January, February, April, June and August 2027 and $266 in the other months, against $399 in December 2026. November 2026 and October 2027 had no rooms on sale when we checked.
Is breakfast included at The Peninsula Manila?
On our March stay the cheapest rate ($292) included it. Otherwise breakfast for two added $34–38 a night on the same room, among the smallest add-ons in the brand. Guests talk about it a lot: breakfast came up in 40% of written reviews, though those averaged 8.32, below the hotel's 9.00.
Where should I stay in Manila?
Makati for business and for the best restaurant and shopping density; Bonifacio Global City for newer, more planned surroundings. The Peninsula sits at the centre of Makati, which is where most visitors want to be.
What is the hotel known for locally?
Its lobby, unequivocally; it is where Manila meets. The Sunday brunch and the halo-halo are institutions in their own right, and both are worth reserving ahead.
How long is the airport transfer?
Roughly 30 to 45 minutes to Ninoy Aquino International, though Manila traffic can stretch that considerably at peak hours. Build in a generous buffer for departures, and let the hotel schedule the car.
