Business class flights to Adelaide land at Adelaide Airport (ADL), a compact single-terminal field a few kilometres west of the CBD, around fifteen minutes by car in ordinary traffic. It is also the rare capital-city airport with wine country on its doorstep: McLaren Vale and the Adelaide Hills are inside forty-five minutes by car, the Barossa Valley about an hour, and Kangaroo Island a short flight from the same terminal.
The long-haul nonstops are fewer than Sydney’s but better than the city’s reputation suggests. Singapore Airlines flies Changi to Adelaide in about 7h05m; the shortest of the long-haul runs into the city, and the leg many European itineraries are built around. Emirates comes down from Dubai in about 13h55m and Qatar Airways from Doha in about 14h20m, each carrying the whole of Europe behind it on one ticket. Cathay Pacific adds a seasonal Hong Kong flight of about 8h55m and China Eastern a seasonal Shanghai Pudong service of about 9h45m.
North America has a nonstop of its own: United flies San Francisco to Adelaide in about 16h20m, seasonally rather than year-round, so confirm the dates before you build a trip around it. Outside that window, and from most other US cities, Adelaide is a one-stop, over the Pacific into Sydney or Melbourne and onward on a short domestic business leg of about 1h55m or about 1h15m, or through Singapore, Doha or Dubai. Nonstop from Changi in about 7h05m, and the single most useful connection into Adelaide from Europe, Asia and the US West Coast: a seven-hour final leg after a Changi break beats a fourteen-hour one every time. Singapore assigns a widebody to the route, so expect a lie-flat business seat, though the exact seat varies by aircraft type; check the equipment before you book.

Nonstop from Dubai in about 13h55m, the deepest one-stop network into Adelaide from Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The business cabin depends on the aircraft: the older 2-3-2 layout is a flat bed, but only the B and J seats reach an aisle without stepping over a neighbour, while the refitted and newer widebodies are 1-2-1 with direct aisle access throughout, worth confirming the layout before you choose a seat.

Polaris nonstop from San Francisco in about 16h20m, typically on a 787: the only direct link between North America and South Australia. It runs seasonally rather than all year and the forward cabin is small, so treat the dates as the constraint rather than the fare.
Cathay Pacific
Seasonal nonstop from Hong Kong in about 8h55m, lie-flat with direct aisle access on the widebodies Cathay puts on the route. When it is flying it is the quickest way in from Greater China and a tidy one-stop from Europe; when it is not, Singapore does the same job.
China Eastern
Seasonal nonstop from Shanghai Pudong in about 9h45m on a widebody. Often the cheaper of the Asian options on comparable dates, with the trade-off you would expect in catering and lounge access rather than in the seat; confirm the aircraft if a flat bed matters.
Qantas
The domestic backbone: business nonstop from Sydney in about 1h55m and Melbourne in about 1h15m, feeding every transpacific and Asian arrival into the eastern capitals. Most Adelaide rotations are narrowbodies with a wide recliner rather than a flat bed, though a widebody with a flat bed turns up on some Sydney services; it is a short leg, and the Adelaide lounge is the better part of the experience.

Best Time to Book Business Class to Adelaide
Adelaide runs a flipped calendar with an unusually long peak. Southern-summer school holidays fill flights from mid-December to the end of January; the Tour Down Under brings the cycling crowd in January; and then comes what locals call Mad March, with the Adelaide Fringe running from mid-February, the Adelaide Festival and WOMADelaide in March, and hotel rates across the CBD moving with them. The Barossa and McLaren Vale harvest overlaps that same stretch, roughly February into April, which is why cellar-door trips and festival trips compete for the same seats.
Autumn, April and May, is the sweet spot: the vineyards are still turning, the weather is mild and dry, and fares soften as soon as the festivals clear out. The southern winter, June through August, is the cheapest stretch of the year into Adelaide: cool, wet and quiet, but the Adelaide Hills and the wine regions are at their most atmospheric. The seasonal services from Hong Kong, Shanghai and San Francisco tend to cluster around the southern summer, so check whether they are flying on your dates and otherwise plan on Singapore, Doha or Dubai. Spring, September to November, is warm and quiet, and the best value of the second half of the year.
Book four to six months ahead for anything between mid-December and March, and two to four months for the rest of the year. Adelaide business cabins are small (the widebodies that serve it carry a few dozen flat beds, and the domestic legs from Sydney and Melbourne fewer than a dozen recliners), so discounted inventory disappears well before the published fare moves.
